Sarah Webb 12-07-10 Teacher Cadet

Today was my seventeenth day as a teacher cadet. Today when I first got there Miss

Robbins was not in the room. So whenever the students came in I tried to greet them just like

Miss Robbins does everyday. They seemed to all like this and smiled and responded back. Miss

Robbins also seemed to be in a much better mood today which put everyone else in a better

mood too. The next thing that I did was go over morning work with them again. I like getting to

do this because it helps me to learn how to go over all different kinds of problems with them.

Instead of just going over math, I also get to go over history and English, so it helps me learn a

little bit along with them. Today Miss Robbins had a meeting during the students activity time,

which was art. So during this forty minutes I was on my own. I got to take the students to art

and then sit in the class and wait to go get them. I took this time to read some of their writing

work that they had been working on. Some of them are very good writers. When the time came

for me to go get them Miss Robbins had still not gotten back so I had to go and get them from

art. Whenever we got back to the room she was still not there so I told them to sit down for a

little while until she got back. This, I realized, was not a very good idea. My students do not

know the meaning of sit quietly. So I told them they could talk quietly to their neighbor if they

stayed quiet. This also was not a good idea. Finally I decided that I was going to have to have

some sort of discussion with them to get them all to pay attention to something. I asked them if

they had any questions about what High School is like. They had plenty to ask. I got all kinds of

questions from this one. They asked really good questions though.
