Sarah Webb 12-06-10 Teacher Cadet Today was my sixteenth day as a teacher cadet. Today was also the day that Miss Love came to shadow me. I wasn’t too nervous about this until I actually started my teaching and knew that I was being graded on how I was doing. Before all of this began it was a normal day in my classroom. Miss Robbins was still sort of sick so she was still in a bad sort of mood. When I got there I started on stapling the student’s morning work that was to be handed out whenever they got there. We normally do this on Friday but didn’t have a chance since Miss Robbins was so sick. This ended up working out though because I needed something to do while I waited on the bell to ring. I was a little early today so I had about ten minutes to blow, so I spent it doing this. Whenever everyone got into the classroom Miss Robbins told them that the substitute had left a note that was not very good. A few of the students’ names were even called out individually for being so bad. This was not like my students so I don’t know what was going on with them that day. They apparently were very loud and did not listen whenever the teacher told them to sit down and do their work. After Miss Robbins had a discussion with the students about how to be good whenever she is not there, I started to go over morning work with them. My students are very sharp and are always quick to let me know when I make a mistake. They did just that again this morning. Other than that they only other thing that I did was teach my lesson. I read a book to them and then discussed character and background with them. They really seemed to enjoy the book and I hope I got a good grade on my lesson. The book was about a family who had been in a relocation camp for the Japanese Americans in WWII. I think this was a good book choice because it had a good meaning to it but it was also an entertaining read and I was able to teach some history from it to, so that was good.

Today was my sixteenth day as a teacher cadet. Today was also the day that Miss Love

came to shadow me. I wasn’t too nervous about this until I actually started my teaching and

knew that I was being graded on how I was doing. Before all of this began it was a normal day in

my classroom. Miss Robbins was still sort of sick so she was still in a bad sort of mood. When I

got there I started on stapling the student’s morning work that was to be handed out whenever

they got there. We normally do this on Friday but didn’t have a chance since Miss Robbins was

so sick. This ended up working out though because I needed something to do while I waited on

the bell to ring. I was a little early today so I had about ten minutes to blow, so I spent it doing

this. Whenever everyone got into the classroom Miss Robbins told them that the substitute had

left a note that was not very good. A few of the students’ names were even called out

individually for being so bad. This was not like my students so I don’t know what was going on

with them that day. They apparently were very loud and did not listen whenever the teacher

told them to sit down and do their work. After Miss Robbins had a discussion with the students

about how to be good whenever she is not there, I started to go over morning work with them.

My students are very sharp and are always quick to let me know when I make a mistake. They

did just that again this morning. Other than that they only other thing that I did was teach my

lesson. I read a book to them and then discussed character and background with them. They

really seemed to enjoy the book and I hope I got a good grade on my lesson. The book was

about a family who had been in a relocation camp for the Japanese Americans in WWII. I think

this was a good book choice because it had a good meaning to it but it was also an entertaining

read and I was able to teach some history from it to, so that was good.
