Sarah Webb 12-03-10 Teacher Cadet
Today was my fourteenth day at my classroom for teacher cadet. Today was ok. Not the
best day so far. I started taking pictures with my students today to give them at the end of my
time with them. I think I am also going to give them a few pencils and some other school
supplies to go in the little baggies that I am going to give them. The students were really excited
about getting to do this, and I was glad. For the rest of the day I mostly helped cut stuff out and
just listed to the teacher teach. Miss Robbins was unfortunately in a really bad mood today. I
think she was sick. All of the kids seemed very on edge and didn’t want to say anything wrong
to her. She was getting mad at any little question that they asked her. I tried to answer any of
the questions that the students had before she saw them to try and keep her from getting
madder at them. I ended up walking them to PE for her which I was glad to do. I like getting to
walk the kids places because it reminds me of how good kids they are. They know all the rules
and they know that they should always be following them. Miss Robbins reminds me all the
time that the more responsibility that you give the children the better. This is very true. I have
learned that everything that they are capable of doing I should give to one of them to do. They
always are very eager for new jobs and any of them will gladly take them. The kids have a
bunch of tests on Fridays, so that is mostly what they did while I was there in the morning. After
PE they went to the library and listened to one of the librarians teach something to them. It
honestly looks pretty boring and I’m glad that the teachers don’t have to sit in the library with
their students while this is going on every single week. The last thing that I did before I left was
help to finish cutting out some laminated papers that she was going to be cutting out and using
as flash cards to help the students that need some help with their reading.
