FEBRUARY 2016
What a wonderful close to the 2015 calendar year here at Bowling
Green Christian Academy! Year end gifts for Annual Fund, Building
Fund, and Scholarships were a great blessing!! We are so grateful for
the generous support and encouragement of our BG Christian
community of family and friends who gave a total of $33,004 at year
end!
Of these funds $10,000 was given in new Scholarship dollars, $7440
was given toward the Building Fund and $15,564 was designated
toward Annual Fund.
Donations like these, beyond our regular generous monthly support
help us complete special projects, like a new Lower Campus intercom
system that one donor wanted to give toward. We are excited about
this improvement that will greatly help our staff and students!
Thanks to the generous contributions from people like
you we can continue to meet the needs of our growing
school as we provide quality Christian education. We are
looking forward to a financially healthy 2016-2017 school
year!!

My Bible study group decided to read a book study this fall and we chose Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. The book is a follow up to the movie “War Room” released in theaters last year that she also starred in. It’s a great movie that I highly recommend! The movie and the book have challenged me to go to a deeper level of personal prayer. The book focuses on different areas of our lives and uses scriptures to pray for those areas. Now as I read the scriptures, I am looking for verses that apply to different areas of my life, my family, friends, church and school. It helps me to keep my spiritual eyes open during my quiet time. As we start this new year my prayer for you is from Ephesians 1:18-19a. “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.”

Lego League Strikes Again!
On Dec. 5th BG Christian's very own Lego club competed in the Regional First Lego League (FLL) competition at Toledo Technology Academy. Team members included Jarret Baldonado, Matthew Fyfe, Laurel Bruhl, Matthew Bowlus, Tyler Barnhart, and Nash Boyer.
Students were judged in robot design, project presentation, and core values. The theme this year was Trash Trek. Students researched what happens to trash after it is thrown away and came up with an innovative solution. This stemmed their "Half-It Challenge" video which they shared on social media.
Power of Prayer
Our American Sign Language class had a "speaker" visit the
class. She is totally deaf and has a three-year-old daughter. She
is from Jamaica and going through a terrible time here in the
States. The class had the idea to gather together some things to
help brighten their Christmas!
The high school boys basketball team traveled by ferry boat to compete against Put In Bay High School on
Saturday Dec 12. They came home with a 48-39 victory! The boy’s team currently holds a 6-3 record, as of Jan 4.

Alumni Spotlight on Jeremy Robinson
MINISTRY MINDED:
“Right out of high school I started helping with youth ministry.” says Jeremy, who attended BG Christian from
3rd grade through 1993’s 8th grade graduation. “BG Christian really helped with the foundation of what I believe.
Even though I grew up in a Christian family, being in that environment helped prepare me for the world, and helped
me hold on to my faith.”
During his time at the school, Jeremy enjoyed participating in cross country, the only activity offered at the time.
He found it to be among his greatest BG Christian influences being coached by Gael Windom and Craig Dixon.
“The relationships with coaches, teachers and peers were the most influential for me. I’m a relational person, so that
always helped me.” He went on to run cross country through his high school years at Elmwood where he graduated
in 1997. He also participated in track, theatre, FCA, and band, beginning in 10th grade when they needed a
percussionist.
After high school Jeremy went straight to work for Farm and Fleet
Distribution in the warehouse while he volunteered as a youth leader at
Church of the Good Shepherd where he had attended since age seven.
Later, working four years at Elmwood Schools as a custodian, he
continued to volunteer in youth ministry and moved into an unpaid
Associate Youth Pastor position. In 2003 he began working full-time as
Good Shepherd’s Youth Pastor. He is also in his third year directing
Impact Summer Camp, a week long youth camp he himself attended,
now held in West Harrison, Indiana. “It was a camp that changed my life, where God called me into ministry. I
really want to give back to youth ministry.” Jeremy said he didn’t set out to be the camp director but it fell into
place that way and he feels strongly that he should keep the camp going to help the next generation of kids.”
Jeremy comes from a family of six children who also attended the school, his parents are Terry and Judi Robinson,
both of which have worked at BG Christian Academy for many combined years with Judi currently serving as a
Teacher’s Aide. Jeremy and his wife of 15 years, Elisha resides in Risingsun with their children, Cody, 12 and
Josie, 8. After recently having to say goodbye to their dog of 13 years, Sydney, they’ve all really enjoyed their new
dog Sadie pictured above.

Student Council Exec. Board assembled Operation Christmas Child boxes. They collected items for 4 boxes
from their teams, and they ended up having enough to fill 11 boxes - loaves and fish type of blessing!
