    Its a common problem: A driver goes to hisor her car on a cold winters morning, putsthe key in the ignition, only to discover thecar engine wont turn over.Cold weather can wreak havoc on a carsperformance. For an engine to start, acomplicated process involving severalessential components must go off without ahitch. Combine this with a cold battery thathas also slowed down due to the temperatureand, as a result, wont crank the engine veryefficiently, and starting the engine is suddenlyvery difficult.One of the remedies to this situation is tokeep the engine as warm as possible. It cantake 8 to 12 hours for an auto engine to cooldown after the vehicle has been driven. Soparking the car in a garage and out of thewind can help keep the heat in longer andprevent cold start problems. Thats becausewind does not cause the heat from the engineto dissipate as quickly.Another thing to try that can help enginesperform better in the cold weather is a lowerviscosity motor oil, which will flow moreeasily.

    Hornell, N.Y. Marilyn LMyrt Stuart, 78, of 972 Al-mond Rd., passed away Sunday(Nov. 14, 2010) at her homesurrounded by her family.Born in Hornell, March 21,1932, the daughter of Joseph

    and Genevive Hallett Reckten-wald, she was a lifelong arearesident, graduating from Hor-nell High School. On May 29,1954 she married Wayne F. Stu-art, who predeceased her onMarch 3, 2010. Marilyn hadworked for Steuben Trust Com-pany in Arkport, and later forFAD Motors in Hornell. She wasmember of Our Lady of the Val-ley Parish and a communicant ofSt Anns Church of Hornell.Marilyn enjoyed her coffee club

    at JCs caf, but most of all en-joyed her family.She was predeceased by herhusband and three sisters, LauraSpooner, Ann Bullock andGeraldine Dempsy.She is survived by her daughter,Nancy (Clair) Mallory of Al-mond; three sons, Richard(Pamela) Stuart of Almond,Robert Stuart of Almond, andThomas Stuart of Almond; threesisters, Arlene Clark of Hornell,
