The screen is BLACK, we FADE IN on this three story HOUSE. It

is in the middle of the NIGHT. The CAMERA goes up to the last

story.

INT. BATHROOM -- NIGHT TIME -- SECONDS LATER

The CAMERA goes into the BATHROOM to see DEREK laying against

the wall on the ground. Pill bottles all around him. Empty bags

all around him, used needles also. Derek’s eyes are coked out,

dark bloody red eyes. Holes all over his arms.

The CAMERA gets closer to his face. A WHITE FLASH.

CUT TO:

INT. LONG HALLWAY -- NIGHT TIME

Derek limps down this hallway, blood coming out of it. This

is a DARK hallway with ONE light usually in the middle of the

hallway. Derek reaches a door and he goes through it.

He enters the new hallway, still the same hallway, a never

ending room. Finally Derek hits a dead end. He falls to the

fall and starts to tear up. He slides down the wall and

holds onto his bleeding leg.

Ciara walks down the hall, coming from the darkness. She

stands in the light looking down at him.

DEREK

I should of known, it was you all a long.

CIARA

No, it wasn’t her, it was me. She saw me

for the last time. She wanted you to have

this.

She pulls out a long butchers knife from behind her. She stabs

herself in the stomach and slides open a big hole. She has afoot long stream of blood pouring out. She puts her hand in her

open wound and starts pulling stuff out.

She tosses out guts and strings of blood with clops of insides

on it. Derek can’t stand the sight of this at all. He looks away

but he keeps on looking. She puts her hand in more, almost to

her elbow.

She grabs ahold of something. She slowly pulls it out with

a lot of pain coming from her. It shows a tiny arm, sounds can

be heard, the sound of a baby crying. Derek’s eyes widen.

She pulls out a bloody crying baby.

She holds it up to Derek’s face.

DEREK

This isn’t real, this isn’t real!!!

CIARA

(Calm and subtle)

Derek hold your child.

DEREK

No, he isn’t my child!

Ciara gets a mad look to her face.

CIARA

(Mad)

Hold, your, goddamn child Derek.

DEREK

No, he isn’t mine.

Ciara gets really mad and turns around with the crying baby.

She gets in a starting position ready for something. She puntsthe baby up into the air. The baby hits the only light source

in the room.

The baby shakes from the the volts going through the body. The

light starts beginning to dim and then it goes out with a bang

and a boom from the baby corpse.

CIARA V.O

(Soothing and dark)

Derek it is your time...

Derek screams “No” and scream He`ing his head off. Sounds of

tearing can be heard and this gross dripping and plops of

internal goop.

INT. BATHROOM -- NIGHT TIME -- SECONDS LATER

Derek wakes up from the dream, he moves around scared holding

onto his throat. He stops freaking out and looks into the dirty

cracked mirror to see that there is nothing there. He is just

really fucked up. He puts his hand on the mirror, it cracks.

A angry look comes onto his face, he punches the glass. The

glass shatters to a million pieces everywhere. Derek released

that anger with a relieving feeling and exhales with relief.

He looks at his name, glass shards are lodged between his

fingers. Blood comes down them, blood drips onto the floor.

Derek looks at it with tears in his eyes. He takes out the

glass shards slowly and more blood comes out. He finally

gets out all the shards. Sound of wind can be heard, Derek

gets chilly from it. He looks over to his open door andsees it is open.

He walks over to it, he walks over to it and out the door

which leads him to the outside. He stands on the balcony

looking over the sky line. He looks down and cars are

just moving by. The wind blows through his hair, he feels

the chilliness.

He stands on top of the ledge feeling more of the wind. He

puts is arms out wide and looks up into the sky. His eyes

closed enjoying this. He moves his foot forward loosingsome balance.

He leans forward falling off the building. In SLOW MOTION

Derek moves down slower and slower. His hair blows through

the wind, his eyes closed and a smile rising on his face.

He opens his eyes and sees the ground coming closer.

DEREK’S POV:

The sidewalk is coming closer and BOOM! BLACK SCREEN.

CUT TO:

INT. DEREK’S BEDROOM -- NIGHT TIME -- SECONDS LATER

Derek wakes up screaming his head off. After the screaming

he begins to calm down, he exhales heavily and then calms

down with light breathing.

MASON

What was Mommy like?

DEREK

(Gets on his knees sitting next to Mason)

Your mom was a great person, I loved her very

much. She would of loved you very much. We

had our great times and the worst times. But

if she was still around you would of raises

you better then I’m doing right now.

MASON

(Cute)

Your the best Dad in the world, I think youare doing a great job.

DEREK

Thanks Mason, I really I do. I’m a single Dad

taking care of a child and has a low paying

job, also I have two jobs.

MASON

Wouldn’t it be great to not work?

DEREKOh yeah that would be great. Mason do you

know what we should do?

MASON

DEREK

Try to sleep, you got preschool in the morning.

MASON

Yeah, and you got work.

DEREK

Yeah, so we can eat, sleep and I have a roof

Derek tucks in Mason and Mason gets into sleeping position and

closes his eyes. Derek kisses Mason’s forehead. Derek exits the

room.

INT. BATHROOM -- NIGHT TIME -- MINUTES LATER

Derek opens up the cupboard and takes out a pill bottle. pours

two in his hand and puts them in his mouth. He fills a glass of

water and drinks it to take the pills down. He looks at himself

in the little window on the cupboard. He shuts the cupboard

and exits the room.

INT. DEREK’S BEDROOM -- NIGHT TIME -- SECONDS LATER

Derek gets into the bed and gets into a sleeping position. It

might be a struggle for him to get to sleep. He closes his eyes

and then we FADE OUT.

CUT TO:

Mason is on top of Derek trying to wake up him up.

MASON

Daddy, daddy! Daddy!!!

Derek wakes up.

DEREK

(Rubbing his eyes)

What Mason?

MASON

Its time for school and work.

Derek looks over at the alarm clock and it is nine thirty.

Derek’s eyes widen with fear.

DEREKFuck we got to go!

Mason jumps off of him and Derek gets out of bed and starts

trying to find clothes. Derek goes through a basket trying to

find his clothes.

Mason are you ready?

Its obvious that he has his school clothes on.

DEREK (CONT’D)Of course. Wait downstairs for me.

MASON

Alright.

Mason exits the room. Derek is trying to get clothes on and fix

his messes.

INT. LIVING ROOM -- MORNING TIME -- MINUTES LATER

Derek comes down the stairs to see Mason watching TV. Derek isalready and moving really fast.

DEREK

Mason turn off the TV and get over by the

door.

Mason turns off the TV, grabs his back pack and walks over to

the door. The last thing that Derek gets is the car keys. Derek

walks over to Mason and opens up the door and they exit.

CUT TO:

EXT. EDEN PRESCHOOL -- DAY TIME -- MINUTES LATER

Derek’s car comes into the parking lot really fast and is parked

quickly. They run out of the car and they run inside the

building.

INT. EDEN PRESCHOOL -- HALLWAY -- DAY TIME

They run down the hallway and into a classroom.

INT. CLASSROOM -- DAY TIME

Kids are in a circle and a TEACHER in front of them. They look

over to see Derek and Mason out of breath.

Sorry we’re late, had a little trouble

getting up.

TEACHER

So glad that you can join, Mason come andsit in the circle.

Derek takes Mason’s back pack off for him and puts his hand on

Mason’s shoulder.

DEREK

Have a good day Mason, make sure to

stay out of trouble.

MASON

I will Daddy.

They hug each other, Mason kisses his Dad’s cheek.

MASON

Love you Daddy.

DEREK

Love you to. Have fun.

Mason runs over to the circle. Derek walks over and puts Mason’s

back pack with all the other kid’s stuff and exit’s the room.The Teacher watches him as he leaves the room.

MASON

(To Mason)

So glad for you to join.

CUT TO:

Derek starts walking down the hallway and the Teacher starts

running after him.

TEACHER

Derek!

This gets his attention.

DEREK

Oh hey whats up?

There is something I gotta talk to you about.

DEREK

Can this be on the phone because I’m late

for work?

TEACHER

No, this is a pretty serious thing, I think there

is something wrong with your son.

DEREK

(Little angry)

What do you mean by that?

TEACHER

Your son, how can I say this, he has beendrawing.

DEREK

Like what?

She pulls out a piece of paper and shows it to Derek. On the

picture is a picture is drawn dead people with slit throats,

blood everywhere, kids choking babies, and people shooting other

people and blowing there head off.

DEREK(Widen eyed)

My son drew this?

TEACHER

Yes, he drew this the other day.

DEREK

Well, what should I do, should I send him

to a mental hospital or something?

TEACHERWell, some signs of murdering can found

in the genes of the parents. I not saying

that you wanted to kill anyone but does

he have a history or anything?

of that in our house, I’m a good father to

him, he loves me and I love him, he even

told me. I don’t know what happens sevenhours a day in his life, but when I see him

TEACHER

a problem for a four year old to do that

stuff and also he has been swearing a bit.

DEREK

TEACHER

INT. CAR -- DAY TIME -- MINUTES LATER

Derek is looking at the picture that his son drew. A tear goes

down his face and a pissed off angry look. He hits freaks the

fuck out. He starts hitting the steering wheel and yanking on it

and hitting

everything in sight.

DEREK

FUCK!!! FUCK!!! FUCKING FUCK!!! GOD

DAMN IT, WHY WHY WHY!!! SHIT!!!!

After the swearing marathon he starts to calm down. He takes

some

deep breaths and exhales with relieve.

CUT TO:

INT. LIVING ROOM -- NIGHT TIME

Mason is in the living room playing with his toys while the TV

is on in front of him. Derek is in the next room but we canstill see him and he is making dinner. Derek keeps an eye on

Mason to

see how he acts without him in the room.

Mason just looks innocent when he plays with the toys. He isn’t

doing anything really bad. He goes back to cooking with a smile

on his face. He walks over to a drawer and opens it and brings

Derek looks over with widen eyes. He slams it down onto thetable. Mason just playing with his toys, the toy action figures

Derek interrupts him, he looks really angry..

MASON

DEREK

I just heard some things today but never

mind, dinner is in a couple minutes.

MASON

(Excited)

Yeah.

Derek gets a smile on his face and exits the room. He leans up

against the wall and gets a sign of relief. He walks back into

the living room and notices that Mason isn’t there. Derek walks

into the kitchen and he isn’t there either.

He walks into the kitchen and pours the pasta into the strainer

and shakes it around. He puts the some plain noodles in his

son’s plate and some for him to. He walks over to the fridge and

grabs the butter out of the fridge. He searches for all over the

place for a knife, he remembers he just had a knife a couple

minutes ago.

He looks at the counter where he put it and its not there.

ANGLE ON little silverware drawer, it is the side of it. He

opens it up and there is no knives. He closes the door and Masonstands there at the doorway. He holds the butcher knife in his

hand. He looks like he wants to murder something. Derek jumps

up in scare.

DEREK

Mason! What are you gonna do with that

knife.

INT. CLINIC -- ROOM -- MINUTES LATER

Mason is laying on this medal table. This this a tiny room that

has the scanner, there is a see through mirror where Derek and a

doctor are standing behind.

INT. CLINIC ROOM -- SAME TIME

Derek’s got a scared look to his face, he is biting his nails

with curiosity. The DOCTOR leans in forward, head up close to

the microphone.

DOCTOR

How you doing Mason?

MASON

Scared.DOCTOR

There is nothing to worry about, this will

be over in no time. Remember stay still.

Mason’s tightens up his feet.

DOCTOR

You ready?

MASON

Yeah.

DOCTOR

Okay here we go, three, two, one.

The doctor presses the button and Mason’s table starts to go in

the little scanner. The Doctor turns off the microphone. The

Doctor looks at the computer for a couple seconds doing some

analyzing.

Derek looks at his kid laying on the pull out tray. A smile

rises

on the Doctor’s face.

DOCTOR

Hey Derek, look at this.

Derek walks over and looks at the computer.

DEREK

Yeah.

DOCTOR

DOCTOR

The doctor presses a button and the table starts to come out. He

turns off the mic again.

If you want to we can talk about thislater. But now I have to work.

Mason is waiting at the door. The Doctor walks over and opens

the door for him.

DOCTOR

Since you were a good boy would you

like a sucker.

MASON

Yes please.

The Doctor pulls out a sucker from his pocket and hands it to

Mason who rips the paper off and starts sucking on it.

DOCTOR

(To Derek)

Everything is going to be alright.

Derek looks at the Doctor with a serious face. Mason looks up at

both of them wondering what they were talking about.

EXT. ROAD -- NIGHT TIME -- LATER

INT. CAR -- NIGHT TIME -- LATER

Derek is driving the car, Mason in the back seat eating some

fast food. Derek doesn’t know what to think about this. He looks

back

at Mason who is enjoying his fast food.

He moves his head back to the road. He grips the wheel tightly

and gets some what a angry look to his face. CUT TO BLACK.

Words appear on the screen.

“Thirteen years later”

INT. BEDROOM -- MORNING TIME

This teen boy is sleeping in his bed sound asleep. This is Mason

all grown up, well now he is seventeen. His door slowly opensup. This WOMAN, MAN and little GIRL walk in.

The WOMAN is holding a birthday cake with lit candles already

on it. The number 17 in the middle of the cake. They slowly walk

in and start singing the happy birthday song. Mason slowly

wakes up. He looks to see what is happening.

A smile appears on his face. Smiles appears on there faces. He

leans up and the mother sits on the bed next to him as they

finish the song.

MOTHER

Make a wish Mason.

Mason closes his eyes and opens them again to blow out the

candles. They cheer for him.

MOTHER

Happy birthday Mason.

FATHERHappy birthday son.

LITTLE GIRL

Happy birthday big bro.

MASON
