1. EXT. VILLAGE - NIGHT

A Lancashire village: 1928. Street lanterns

illuminate the village; the few houses that there are

only displaying a splinter of light. Theres nobody

about. All is quiet in the village Then, afleeting shadow passes us, fast. CAMERA following it

-

Moving down a beaten village path - occasionally

catching glimpses of a shadow manoeuvring through.

We stop at a house. A house of the period, Edwardian,

sitting at the end of the path. As we linger, a red

orb like a ghostly image; a dull crimson light

flickering hovers into view. Floating along, theorb forces the letter box up and makes its way into

the house the projection seeping in through the

letterbox

CUT TO:

2. INT. ROBERTS HOUSE - BEDROOM NIGHT

ROBERT a man in his 30s is fast asleep, soaring

loudly (mouth open). At his bedroom door, a red glow

seeping in through the gap underneath. The orb

image then gathering, looming over the sleeping

ROBERTs head.

The red orb then shocks downwards, bursts through

ROBERTs open mouth!

ROBERT wakes, suddenly, screaming as the orb takes

control of him.

ROBERT [possessed; screeching]

Grim-Gra-Va-Ski! Blue box. Time. Not a lot of time!

Doctor. Time and space. Space and Ti-

ROBERT clutches his head as his thoughts merge into

one.

CUT TO:

3. INT. ROBERTS HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT

ROBERT makes his way in, staggering. Looking around

the kitchen, he screams in anger, starting to smash

things up; plates smashing, throwing cupboards,

ripping the table-top newspaper, and breaking chairs

by smashing them against the wall. Hes mental!

ROBERT

(Screaming)

Give! Me! The! Blue! Box!

CUT TO:


Its pouring with rain. ROBERT runs out of his house.

ROBERT [puzzled]

Rain So cold And wet! And depressive! [BEAT] Box! I

mustn't get distracted! The magic box!

Almost on cue, the sound of ancient engines can beheard, filling the air

ROBERT

Noise! The engines, a noise, a strange noise - TARDIS

could be, possibly be, it must be!

ROBERT runs faster and faster he knows what he wants

and is determined to find it....

OPENING TITLES

THE FOE WITHOUT A FACE

5. INT. TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM

The hum of the TARDIS is drowned as the song Whats

That Coming Over The Hill is playing loudly. THE

DOCTOR is spinning around continuously and doing his

dance The Drunken Girraffe from TV Series 5.13 The

Big Bang. Hes holding a pool cue and right near him

is a pool table.

THE DOCTOR grins and then we see on the other side of

the pool table - COMMANDER STRYKE, a Sontaran,

standing there looking very angry. Hes also holding

a pool cue.

THE DOCTOR

You can break seeing as you lost rather quickly last

game.

COMMANDER STRYKE

You will die for this, Doctor!

THE DOCTOR

Commander Stryke... I thought wed gone through this?One chance. ONE chance to save your backside from a

whopping big prison sentence from the Atraxi. Come

on...its your break. Dont you want to beat me?

Pause. As STRYKE just continues to look at THE

DOCTOR.

THE DOCTOR (contd)

Whats the matter?

(Sarcastic tone)

Have you forgotten the rules already?

COMMANDER STRYKE

This is pathetic. War should not be settled on a

silly human tradition.

THE DOCTOR

This isnt war, this is about having fun before you

spend the rest of your life in captivity.

STRYKE breaks.

THE DOCTOR gives a quick look at STRKE before potting

a red, He then pots another red, another, another,

another. Then he puts incredible force in the shot

and pots the remaining three red and then the black.

Instantly winning.

THE DOCTOR (contd)

Bad luck. nother game?

STRYKE rapidly grabs his gun and prepares to shoot

but as he does THE DOCTOR dodges it, presses a button

on the TARDIS Console and STRYKE teleports away.

THE DOCTOR (contd)

Thats the problem with Sontarans... Such sore

losers.

He presses another button and the music turns off, he

straightens his bow tie and walks out of the doors.

CUT TO:

6. EXT. STREET - NIGHT

ROBERT is lying in the street. He is tired and his

eyes are heavy with bags. Robert sips down a whole

bottle of alcohol. A man walks up to him.

MAN

Hey are you feeling okay there? You look a bit tipsy

to me, do you really think you should be drinking?

ROBERT

You look suitable; youd do the job nicely-

MAN

What the eck are you on about?

ROBERT focuses on the man, the red orb flies out of

ROBERTs eyes and into the man. ROBERT laughs

manically, his body falls to the ground.

CUT TO:


THE DOCTOR walks out of the TARDIS doors and looks

back at the TARDIS.

THE DOCTOR

See, you always have to go and land in the most

awkward positions, dont you? Anyway Ill be back

later. Things to do. [turning back] Dont...wander

off.

THE DOCTOR sees a man on the floor and, frowning,

walks over to him.

THE DOCTOR (contd)

Playing dead?

THE DOCTOR gets out his sonic and starts to sonic the

unconscious ROBERT.

THE DOCTOR (contd)Signals of an external force controlling you

internally. Gone now, but...

THE DOCTOR looks at the sonic, frowning.

THE DOCTOR (contd)

Try a bit harder!

THE DOCTOR sighs. He picks ROBERT up by using a

firemans lift and walks to a nearby pub inn.

CUT TO:

8. INT. PUB - NIGHT

THE DOCTOR carries ROBERT in and places him down onto

a chair.

BARTENDER

You cant bring his kind in here!

THE DOCTOR

I found him unconscious out there on the street, heneeds to rest-

BARTENDER

I can see youre trying to be a good citizen and all

that but its all too common these days- Can I get

you anything to drink?

THE DOCTOR

Ill have a whiskey

.

The BARTENDER makes up a drink, he passes it over to

THE DOCTOR.

BARTENDERSo I havent seen you here before are you new?

THE DOCTOR

Im just passing by-

BARTENDER

Its just this is the type of place full of regulars,

I dont often get any newcomers.

.

THE DOCTOR sips the whiskey.

THE DOCTOR [in disgust]

Ah! Whiskey, its bitter and sour- I dont like

whiskey, I used to like it, but it must be this-

Sorry Ill just have a glass of water to get rid of

the taste.

BARTENDER

Ive never known anyone before to hate this, that

bottles the finest whiskey in the house. You got bad

taste.

The man takes the glass away and pours out a glass of

water. ROBERT begins to wake up, his eyes flutteropen.

THE DOCTOR

Ah, back with us are we? You gave me quite a scare

out there. Are you feeling okay?

ROBERTA bit rough I suppose, but Im fine-

ROBERT remembers, the camera pans into his eyes.

FLASHBACK.

ROBERT [screeching]

Grim-Gra-Va-Ski!, Blue box, time not a lot of time-

Doctor, time and space!

END OF FLASHBACK

ROBERT [sweating]

Its you! Youre the magic man with the box, you must

tell- You must tell me!

BARTENDER

Dont say I didnt warn you.

THE DOCTOR

Ill get you home. You can tell me the rest there

over a good old fashioned cuppa, eh?

BARTENDER

Your drink?

THE DOCTOR grabs the water and downs it.

BARTENDER

That will cost-

THE DOCTOR

I forgot to mention, mystery shopper-

THE DOCTOR takes out the PSYCHIC PAPER and flashes it

at the Bartender, leaving him slightly puzzled....

BARTENDER

A what?!

THE DOCTOR

Excellent service! I can see and youre a jolly

fellow.

The Bartender frowns slightly.

THE DOCTORIll get back to you on that one.

CUT TO:

9. INT. ROBERTS HOUSE NIGHT

THE DOCTOR walks in with ROBERT.

ROBERT

(Muttering)

Blue box, magic. Blue. Box, magic, magic, blue, box,

box, box, box, box, box, box, blue, magic.

THE DOCTOR places ROBERT on the chair, watching himcarefully - cautiously. He then sits on the chair

opposite.

THE DOCTOR

Why dont you tell me whats on your mind?

ROBERT

(Shaking his head)

I cant, sir...too dangerous, sir.

THE DOCTOR

Why is it?

ROBERT

(Laughing manically, tapping his head)

In case its in there...inside my head.

THE DOCTOR

In case whats in there, what is it?

ROBERT

Draxartan!

THE DOCTOR

(Sonicing Robert again)

Whatever was in your head before I can assureyou...Its gone now. Its gone.

ROBERT

(Screaming)

The blue box! Must find the blue box!

THE DOCTOR

Calm down, calm down. Youre gonna be fine I promise.

Can you take me to this Draxartan?

ROBERT

(Nodding)

I think so...sense...sense, sense, sense, sense,

sense. I think so...sense.

THE DOCTOR

Slow down. Think about what youre trying to say.

ROBERT

Ive got a sense!

THE DOCTOR

(Nodding)

A psychic link. Created by Draxartan and left by it

shortly after it left your body.

ROBERT

Not body...mind.

THE DOCTOR

Ah well thats...interesting, very interesting. It

possesses minds so its a parasite of some sort. Lead

me to this Draxartan.

THE DOCTOR and ROBERT get up and THE DOCTOR follows

ROBERT.

CUT TO:

10. INT. TIMS HOME. LIVING ROOM

The same man from SC. 6, is now under the possession

of the Draxartan. He is ransacking his house in a

similar fashion to how ROBERT did so earlier.....

TIM [screeches]

Give me it! Give me what I want!

TIM kicks the shelf, and a pile of books come

toppling over. TIM is getting really angry now, he

glares out of the window and then runs to his cabinet

and grabs a paper and flicks through it at immense

speed as if he is absorbing the text into his memory.

TIM

No mention! A magic box arrives and no mention,

stupid humans - like I really care about the Olympics

in Amsterdam!

CUT TO:

11. EXT. STREET

THE DOCTOR and ROBERT are walking through the street,

THE DOCTOR remaining behind ROBERT at all times.

ROBERT

(Muttering)

Draxartan, artan, artan, street, blue, magic blue.

Box.

THE DOCTOR

What are your opinions of bow ties?

Robert starts to become tired and slightly drowsy.

ROBERT

Theyre cool.

THE DOCTOR

(Muttering)

Great... So the mad ones think its cool.

ROBERT

Its not far now.

THE DOCTOR

Brilliant.

ROBERT

Its moving. Fast. Its onto something.

CUT TO:

12. EXT. ALLEYWAY - NIGHT

TIM carries on walking down the alley way until he

reaches the TARDIS. He grins happily.

TIM [happily]

I found you, oh youre so beautiful-

TIM goes towards the handle but it wont open, he

tugs on the TARDIS door.

TIM

Are you playing hard to get are you?

TIM focuses on the TARDIS light then the red orb

flies out of his mouth and into the light. The light

turns a sickly red. TIM drops to the floor. The

camera pans to down the alley where THE DOCTOR and

ROBERT are walking.

ROBERTSo why are you interested in this creature? Are you

going to kill it or?

THE DOCTOR

Killing isnt part of my ethos, Id much rather

reason with it-

ROBERT

You avoided the initial question, why are you

interested?

THE DOCTOR

I guess it fits into my job description, any more

questions Robert?

ROBERT

Well I was going to-

THE DOCTOR and ROBERT come up to the TARDIS.

THE DOCTOR

Because I'd like to think that big blue box there is

the answer to all of the above-

ROBERT

Youre the man, youre what it wants?

THE DOCTOR

Exactly. And its about time I made an appearance.

THE DOCTOR glances at the TARDIS light.

THE DOCTOR

This is worse than I thought. What did he do to you?

THE DOCTOR gets out the TARDIS key and tries to open

the door but it wont open. He glances to ROBERTwhos sat on the floor rocking back and forth, hes

gone back to insanity. THE DOCTOR kneels down.

THE DOCTOR

Robert...Robert, look at me.

ROBERT

(Looking up)

What?

THE DOCTOR

Whats the matter, why are you frightened?

ROBERT

The...creature, Im going to see it again arent I?

Itll come back for me!

THE DOCTOR

No it wont....its just a bully and do you know whathappens to bullies?

ROBERT

What?

THE DOCTOR

They get stopped.

THE DOCTOR stands up and clicks his fingers. The

TARDIS doors open and THE DOCTOR walks in. ROBERT

stands up, surprised. He walks in after him.

CUT TO:

13A. INT. TARDIS. CONSOLE ROOM

THE DOCTOR and ROBERT walk in, the TARDIS has turned

red and the cloister bell is tolling.

ROBERT

Whats that noise? (Laughing) Its so...manic.

THE DOCTOR

The cloister bell-

ROBERT (puzzled)

Meaning?

THE DOCTOR

Danger, but I wouldnt worry it happens to me all the

time.

ROBERT

(Scared suddenly)

It doesnt happen to ME!

DRAXARTAN V/O

Cease this rambling! Doctor we finally meet-

THE DOCTORThats funny as most of the time I meet my enemies

face to face-

DRAXARTAN V/O

My form isnt stable, I can change and place myself

within any life form I desire-

THE DOCTOR

But why Robert? What did you want him for?

DRAXARTAN V/O

My pure form is a cloud of red gas. My resources are

limited in this time zone. I used the humans as

scavengers to locate the TARDIS.

THE DOCTOR

But what for?

DRAXARTA V/O

I can place myself within the TARDIS. Its heart and

soul will keep me alive eternally-

THE DOCTOR

Eternal life?

DRAXARTAN V/O

Im the last of my kind Doctor. If you are wise

youll allow me to live-

THE DOCTOR [slightly angry/dark]

Eternal life isnt everything Draxartan, and believe

me Im the best man to ask. I have lived for 910

years, and in that time I have seen civilisations

burn to the ground, I saw my loved ones perish, mybest friends leave me or me lose them and would I say

thats improved the quality of my life - NO!

DRAXARTAN V/O

Yet youre so wrong, Doctor. For as long as I live,

my legacy is kept intact. I will never die, and my

species will be spoken of throughout the stars for

years to come.

THE DOCTOR

Im the last of my kind and believe me, I know how

you feel, but you have to stop this.

DRAXARTAN V/O

Then youre a time traveler. My species perished

when our planet was destroyed by a rogue element of

the Shadow Proclamation. You could travel back in

time and save at least one of them. You could find a

female and together we could save our species.

THE DOCTOR

Your end was a fixed-point. its happened and wont

change.

DRAXARTAN V/O

Then watch as your beloved TARDIS loses its life!

THE DOCTOR

No! You cant, the heart of the TARDIS consume you

in the process. The power its too much for you!

DRAXARTAN V/O

I wont lose! If the TARDIS cant take my power thenyou can. Youre a Time Lord. The legend of the Time

Lords is they never die; their bodies just

regenerate. I can quite easily take you instead-

THE DOCTOR

Then do it.

ROBERT

Are you crazy?

THE DOCTOR [whispers]

I know what I am doing Robert!

The DRAXARTAN flies out of the TARDIS console and

into THE DOCTORs body. The TARDIS turns back to anormal colour.

THE DOCTOR

You see! Thats the problem, my mind is a big,

complicated and total wibbly wobbly timey wimey mess!

Youre just another one to add to a collection of 910

years of memory.

DRAXARTAN V/O [getting quieter and quieter]You cant do this to me! Have mercy on me-

THE DOCTOR

Youve taken people, you twisted their emotions and

sense of well being, but now you cant do any more

harm.

ROBERT

My head its getting clearer, Doctor!

THE DOCTOR

Know what that is? Lovely little thing called moral.

I showed you this thing, this parasite can be stopped

and its making you feel better. Youre healthy again

now.

DRAXARTAN [whispers]

Ill not be defeated!

THE DOCTOR

You sure, Draxartan? Cos Im pretty sure you will.

Robert - hold tight.

THE DOCTOR and ROBERT hold on the TARDIS Console as

THE DOCTORs eyes turn red and the TARDIS bashes

about.

CUT TO:

FX SCENE: TIME VORTEX

The TARDIS whacking through the Time Vortex.

CUT TO:

13B. INT. TARDIS - CONSOLE ROOM

THE DOCTOR and ROBERT continue to hold on. THE DOCTORgroans and as red mist leaves his eyes THE DOCTOR

takes a deep breath in and breathes out, the red orb

flies out as if being thrown.

DRAXARTAN

Not a chance, Doctor.

The red orb flies back into THE DOCTORs mouth and

takes his eyes again. He falls on the floor and

starts fitting violently. ROBERT sits beside THE

DOCTOR, scared. He continues to fight. ROBERT looks

around for anything to help and then slams his fist

into THE DOCTORs stomach. The red orb flies out and

flies into ROBERT.

THE DOCTOR

Robert!

POSSESSED-ROBERT

Not any more! I will have eternal life!

ROBERT grabs hold of the console and with incredible

strength rips open the Console. A white light shines

up into ROBERT - the heart of the TARDIS. THE DOCTOR

shields himself as ROBERT is disintegrated.

The console shuts and THE DOCTOR stands up observing

the spot where Robert was.

THE DOCTOR

That was harsh You didnt need to do that!

FADE TO:

15. INT. TARDIS - CONSOLE ROOM

A telephone keeps ringing repeatedly, the Doctor then

goes to pick it up - however no one speaks.

Hello? [pause] Is there anyone there?

VOICE V/O

Doctor!

THE DOCTOR [spooked out]

Who are you?!

VOICE V/O [taunting]

I have someone youd like to meet Doctor, someone so

pivotal so important to the human race.

THE DOCTOR

And who might that be?

VOICE V/O

Alexander Graham Bell.
