• The first All American game was held in 1977. It was originally known as the Capitol Classic, which took place in Washington D.C.

• The following year, in 1978, McDonald’s became the main sponsor of the 2nd All American game held in Philadelphia, PA at the historic arena, The Spectrum

• In 2002, McDonald’s introduced the Women’s All American game to the format

• The McDonald’s game has been televised for the past 15 years

• Held every year in a different city in the US, the McDonald’s game has been played in over 23 states since 1977

HISTORY

FOUNDING FATHERS OF THE GAME

Bob Geoghan founded The Capitol Classic, which was an

All-Star game played between a group of selected

players against a team of players from Washington

D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. This game featured a future NBA legend by the name of

Earvin Johnson.

Morgan Wooten is a legend in the high school coaching ranks. His early involvement with the McDonald’s game has helped it evolve into a premier event. Every year

the McDonald’s Game honors him by giving an award for outstanding

sportsmanship in his name.

John Wooden is without a doubt the most iconic coach in the history of the NCAA. An icon both on and off the court,

he has been a part of the McDonald’s game from the very beginning. Up until his

passing in 2010, he served as the Advisory Committee

Chairman.

By using a database of credible sources and appointing a proper selection committee,

we will be able to accurately select top players (boys/girls) in the 17U age group

• To hold the game in Spring of 2012 at London’s Crystal Palace

• Help launch McDonald’s Olympic Sponsorship by engaging the fans into the game

• Connect the McDonald’s game with current game sponsors and new local sponsors

• Build energy around basketball and the 2012 Olympic Games that will take place that summer in London

• To gain sponsorship which will help fund transportation/hotels/meals for: players, coaches, and staff. It will follow the same financial model used for the US game

• To hold the game every year in a new host city to continue growing the global game of basketball
