Ronald died at hishome on Novem-ber 12, 2013. Ronwas born in hisg r a n d p a r e n t s 'homestead in Allan,Michigan. He was the sec-ond of four children. Ron at-

tended school in East Jackson, and laterReading High School, where he gradu-ated. He was a member of the Army Na-tional Guard from 1953 to 1961. LaterRon attended classes at Western Michi-gan University, and taught electricity as a4-H leader. In 1962, Ron married the loveof his life, Peggy Baughman. Togetherthey raised four children and had a happyand fulfilling life together. Ron was amember of this community for over 50years. Twenty years ago Ron and Peggyfulfilled their dream of owning their ownbusiness and operated Cooper Hardwarein Cooper, MI for 19 years. Ron was mostat home at the hardware store, where hewas able to “fix things” and help others todo the same. Kevin passed away sud-denly Tuesday, November12, 2013. He was born Au-gust 29, 1971 in Kalama-zoo, MI. For several yearshe was employed recon-structing electric motors.Kevin always tried to be the

tough guy, never letting family or friendsknow how much they really meant to him.But he did more for them than he couldhave put into words. His mom and sisterwere at the top of his list. He was pre-ceded in death by his father, EdwinRoselip in 1995. Otsego High School and graduated withthe Class of 1943. On November 6, 1943she married Fred Kelsey. She traveledwith him before and after his return fromserving overseas during WWII. Maxinewas a devoted wife and mother and lovedher family very much. She loved herhome, doing crafts and loved flower ar-ranging. Preceding her in death were herfather and mother; her husband Fred; twobrothers, Lee and Robert Martin; and asister, Thelma Punches. Surviving are herdaughters, Sandy (Dave) Holland of Kala-mazoo and Sue (Merl) Lindsey of Otsego;three grandsons, Eric (Brenda) Lindsey,Kyle (Stacey) Lindsey and Cory (Ashley)Lindsey; two granddaughters, Robin (Jeff)Ritz) and Shelley (Chris) Turley; ninegreat-grandchildren, Zoey, Madison,Emma, Nolan, Alyssa, Owen, Steven,Kendra and Ryan; many nieces andnephews. Homelessness Awareness MonthWhat does homelessness look like in your community?*

Meet Ann – Ann and Bill were married for almost 40 years before his untimely death. Years prior, Bill lost his long-term Plainwell job dueto plant closing. After that, job opportunities were minimal. Bill and Ann went through their savings just to keep the bills paid. Withoutany warning Bill passed away. Providing for his wife and child were important to Bill throughout their married life. Losing their disabledadult child a few years ago added to the stress and financial struggles. Ann believes her husband died of a broken heart. With their homeforeclosed on and no family to turn to – Ann became homeless.

Meet Missy – Growing up in generational poverty, having limited positive role models and little family support meant Missy faced barriersand struggles most people never experience. For Missy, homelessness came when her mother simply left the home. All young adult chil-dren in the household had to figure out on their own where they would live.

Meet Derek – Living with bipolar and social disorders has been a lifelong management effort for Derek. As an adult he was able to hold ajob and afford a small apartment. Then came the epilepsy attacks. He is no longer able to hold a job and to make matters worse, he hasno insurance. Homelessness was never planned. It just became Derek’s reality.

This year to date Christian Neighbors has helped 61 homeless families (145 people). Some of these families lived with friends orfamily. Some couch surfed, sleeping wherever they could that evening. Some slept in uninhabitable places. But all received help andhope through Christian Neighbors.

As I write this letter, homelessness is or will be facing families right here in Plainwell, Otsego and Martin. But there is hope. With yourimmediate help and the many services Christian Neighbors offers, we can make a difference. I assure you, the tremendous feeling of sat-isfaction you’ll gain from contributing to this effort is beyond compare. Can you give $375 today to cover a month’s rent for anotherAnn, Missy or Derek?
