Modern Makers is an experimental arts program. We catalyze
ideas and community through experience design. We are
a conduit for the creative community, bridging art, design,
cuisine and culture with different social spheres. We activate
small and big ideas, moving and changing with the landscape
around us. Over the last five years we offered twelve events a
year with a wide range of collaborations, audiences and visions.
We hosted exhibitions in vacant spaces, research centers,
warehouses and neighborhood centers. In 2016, we focused
our programming to four events, greater impact in one spot
with a wider sphere of influence.
We are excited to tell our story of growth and
mission, success and failure, in a creative and
dynamic book.
With this scholarship we will design and print a book about
our programming over the last five years, and distribute it
around Cincinnati and the country at large. We will showcase
examples of exhibitions along with our design methodology.
From our first event, a harpist and nude drawing session, to
our latest and biggest event, style and sustainability, a gala and
fashion show featuring over twenty designers and fifty models
in our 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse. We will include pictures, tell
stories, poems and include captions from participants and our
audience. Graphics will showcase our design methodology,
helping others to replicate our process in their own
communities.
