THE CORREALTION BETWEEN DEMENTIA AND MOBILIZATION ON GERONTIC AT TRESNA WERDHA SOCIAL SERVICE UNIT OF NATAR OF LAMPUNG SELATAN IN 2014

Some physical, biological and psychological and social problems will come out on elder people as the effect of aging. The common problem that happens on gerontic people is mobilization. One of mental factors that causes mobilization is dementia. The prevalence of dementia in Indonesia is number four after China, India, and Japan. In 2020, the dementia level in Indonesia will reach 1,016.8 million people and 314.1 million in Lampung. The objective of the study is to find out the correlation between dementia and mobilization on gerontic at Tresna Wercha Social Service Unit of Natar of Lampung Selatan in 2014.

This is a quantitative study. The study occupied analytical survey with cross sectional approach. The population was the whole elder people living in Tresna Werdha Retirement House amounting to 100 people. the sampling technique was purposive sampling resulting 51 respondents. The data were collected through interview and data analysis was through two steps, they are univariate for frequence distribution and bivariate analysis to identify each correlation among variable tested by Chi Square.

The chi square analysis revealed that there is a correlation between dementia and mobilization with p value = 0.030. The retirement house officials should facilitate some activities to overcome dementia such as sport, gym and humor therapy. The vocational activities can be done to create activity schedule on elder people.
