2020 will be remembered as a special year,… a year where cycling was not the top priority but Covid-19, which has given our daily life
a special twist. Successive measures and guidelines have kept the international cycling bunch in suspense for a long time and brought
a radical calendar change. Never in history a Scheldeprijs has been organized in October.
However, we are proud the 108th edition of the oldest Flemish cycling classic can also take place this year.
For the third consecutive time, the start of the race will be given in Terneuzen (Netherlands). The road through Zeeland will
provide a stunning backdrop for a fascinating race in the "unofficial World Championship for sprinters".
The start in Terneuzen and a passage through the windy Zeeland will undoubtedly provide fireworks. The possible echelons
promise to deliver entertainment and the teams will have to adjust their tactics to put their favorites in the right position when they
reach the local laps and the final in Schoten. This year the race will re-instate the tradition of three local laps in- and around Schoten
and the public and the VIPs will be able to closely follow the cyclists during the exciting final.
The adjusted course and the undoubtedly thrilling race makes us already longing for October 14. With 15 Wordltour teams the
Participating field looks impressive! Be sure to not miss a minute of the Scheldeprijs.
