CUSTOMER SERVIEE-ADVICE FROM TELSTRA Extreme Weather events impact service in Darwin~Daly and Arnhem districts of the Northern Territory

Telstra is working to manage the significant impact to Telstra services that has occurred as a result of a series of extreme weather events in the Darwin-Daly and Arnhem districts of the Northern Territory on or about 28 March 2013.

Due t o t he effect of damage to t he Telstra telecommun ications network by a monsoonal trough there has been a significant increase in t he number of Telstra services being reported as faulty. As a result, there has been some disruption to service and delays to normal installation and repa ir activit ies.

Telstra apologises to any affected customers.

Information as to the nature of t hese severe weather events can be sou(ced from Weatherzone at www. weatherzone.com.au. Heavy rainfall and flood warnings across the Darwin-Daly and Arnhem catchment area is detailed within th is site for Thursday 28 March 2013 through to Tuesday 2 April 2013; all of which were reported in the news media after the event s.

Telstra has identified that the effect pf these circumstances may apply to approximately 1,000 services, Some of t,hese services may not be installed or repaired within Telstra's standard time f rames, The number of possibly affected services may increase or decrease as Telstra assesses the full effect of the extreme ';;eatlier cond itions. Based oQ curr,en t information.Jhe resumption date ofTelstra's normab?ervice operations is expected to be 19 April 2013. This date is indicative only, however, and may be subject to change'once the full impact of the extreme weather conditions has been assessed . Telstra regret s any inconvenience caused to customers and thanks them for their patience while this work is being undertaken. -

Telstra services encompassed in th is exemption are in the area bounded by and including, but not limited tQ, the area starting at Gurin Point and from there following the coast east around the Cobourg Peninsula and Goulburn Islands to Mi li ngimbi. From Milingimbi. the area's boundary proceeds southward t hrough Ramingining, Emu Springs, and Mt Catt. From Mt Catt, the boundary turns westthrough Mary River Roadhouse to Hayes -Creek, then southwest to Oolloo Crossing, then west to the_coast at Port Keats. From Port Keats, the area's boundary follows the coast northeast ground Cox Peninsula and past the city of Darwin back to Gunn Point. All suburbs. towns, off shore islands and coastal areas serviced by Telstra within these boundaries are encompassed in t his exemption. .

As these ci rcumstances were outside of Telstra's control, Telstra is claiming an exemption from compliance with time frames and performance standards requi red under the Telecommunications (Customer Service Guarantee) Standard 2011. Therefore Telstra is noti fying customers that normal installation and repair t ime frames may ngt be met during t he period from 2 April 2013 to 19 April 2013 inclusive (based on Te lstra's estimated recovery schedule correct at the t ime of publication of t his not ice) and . under section 21 of the Telecommunicotions (Customer Service Guarantee) Standard 201 J, Telst ra wi ll be exempt from complying with performance sta'ndards during t his period .
