Day Trip to Lanier Theological Library November 15th
On the road again! This time we will travel via FPC van and private car (as needed) to Northwest Houston to tour the renowned Lanier Theological Library, followed by lunch at the equally renowned family-owned Rib Tickler Restaurant.
This beautiful library building combines architectural features from libraries in and around the University of Oxford. The Stone Chapel, adjacent to the library, is a replica of a 500 A.D. Byzantine chapel featuring hand-painted ceiling scenes from the Bible. A no-charge guided tour provides details about the architecture, aesthetics and resources of the library and chapel. Artifacts in the library include an original Dead Sea Scroll fragment display, a Qumran Scroll jar, two stone tablets, two early King James Bibles and a C.S. Lewis collection. Overall, the 17,000 square foot research library has ex-tensive works specializing in Biblical Studies, Church History, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Egyptology, Linguistics and Theology.
Following this heady experience, we will journey over to The Rib Tickler Restaurant for a relaxing, let-your-hair-down Texas-style lunch. The menu includes everything from salads to, of course, a variety of wood-smoked BBQ items. All the sides are “made from scratch”, meaning the potato salad is made from potatoes and coleslaw starts out as cabbage! A farm-to-fork experience.
Make your reservation to join the tour on November 15th with either
Donna Stewart (210) 343-9905 or Shirley Dukes (936) 760-8655.
We will meet at the church at 9:00-9:15 a.m., and travel refresh-
ments will be provided! The cost of the tour is $10.00 and any
lunch expense is each individual’s responsibility.
Veterans Day Men’s Choir
On Sunday, November 10th, we are assem-bling a Men's Choir to honor our Veterans by singing a medley of all five armed forces songs. We will have one practice on Wednes-day, November 6th, at 7:00 p.m., in the Choir room to prepare. There is no need to read music. We hope you’ll join us.
PYCC Lock-In November 10th
Our PYCC members will be having a lock-in at the Northwoods Presbyterian Church on November 10th, and will be making care packages for MOW AniMeals. They’ll accept any donations of dry dog/cat food. Donations can be dropped off at the FPC office for Dena Sowden.
