    PREFACE

This procedure is a revision or an overlay to a Saudi Aramco Engineering Procedure(SAEP) for the scope of the Yanbu Export Refinery Project, YERP, unlessspecifically defined as a New document. A YERP procedure consists of a revision oran overlay and the Saudi Aramco (SA) document with the same name. An overlayestablishes any required changes to the SA document and specifically defines thechanges. If the SA document is to be used without any changes the overlay willstate there are no changes required. If the document is a new YERP document, withno reference to a SA procedure, the overlay will state it.

The YERP Procedure Index identifies which YERP documents are new and the ones

that relate to SA documents that are unchanged, changed, or deleted. All references to SA procedures, specifications and standards are to be defined asreferences to YERP procedures, specifications and standards unless specificallystated otherwise in the overlay.

All references to SA organizations are to be defined as the YERP ManagementTeam.

Interpret the following as specified: Revise A specific revision to a SA or other Code paragraph or sentence as

    noted in this specification

Add continuation of an SA or other Code paragraph with an overlayrequirement Substitute replace the SA or other Code paragraph in entirety by the overlay

requirement New New paragraph number in the overlay with no corresponding SA or other

Code paragraph Delete SA or other Code paragraph is deleted by the overlay

    REVISION

This is a new YERP document that replaces Saudi Aramco Engineering

Procedure (SAEP), SAEP-1143 Radiographic Examination, 29 May 2002. ATTA CHMENT

None This is a stand alone document that replaces SAEP-1143, RadiographicExamination.

    1.0 SCOPE

This procedure establishes the requirements for written procedures governing theradiographic examination of welds. This procedure applies to radiographicexaminations made by the Contractor or subcontractors to the Contractor, wherethese examinations are made onsite to the Yanbu Export Refinery Project.

This procedure does not apply to vendors performing radiographic examinations at amanufacturing facility. The requirements for vendor radiographic examinations aregiven in Project Standards and Specifications.

    2.0 CONFLICTS AND DEVIATIONS

Any conflicts between this Procedure and other applicable YERP EngineeringProcedures (YERP SAEP), YERP Engineering Standards (YERP-SAES), YERPMaterials System Specifications (YERP-SAMSS), YERP Standard Drawings (YERP-SASD), or industry standards, codes, and forms shall be resolved in writing by thePMT.

Direct all requests to deviate from this Procedure in writing to the PMT, who shallfollow internal company procedure YERP-SAEP-302, Instructions for Obtaining aWaiver of a Mandatory YERP Engineering Requirements, and forward suchrequests to the appropriate channel for review and approval.

    5.0 REQUIRE MENTS

5.1 Preparation of Radiographic Examination Procedures

The Contractor is to prepare the radiographic examination procedures that will berequired for examinations to be performed by the Contractor. The Contractor willdecide if subcontractors are to generate their own procedures or whether thesubcontractors are to use procedures prepared by the Contractor. If radiographicexamination procedures are to be prepared by subcontractors, the Contractor shallbe responsible to make sure they are prepared, submitted, and approved.

    5.2 Safety Requir ements

The procedures governing radiographic examinations need to specify the steps to betaken to prevent the excessive exposure of personnel to radiation. The requirementsof Project Procedure 865, Radiation Control for Radiographic Services, must befollowed.

    5.3 Equipment and Materials

The radiographic examination procedures need to address the following aspects of

equipment and materials to be used. Acceptable Radiation Sources

Film including types, processing, and storage

    Intensifying Screens

    6.0 YERP REVIEW OF PROCEDURES

The Contractor will submit all applicable, Contractor and subcontractor, radiographicexamination procedures to the Contract Package PMT for YERP PMT review andcomment. The Contract Package PMT will forward the procedures to the YERPWelding Representative for review.

The YERP Welding Representative will comment on the procedures and return themto the Contract Package PMT for forwarding to the Contractor.

The Contractor will ensure that YERP comments are incorporated before theprocedures are used onsite. After YERP and Contractor comments have beenincorporated, the Contractor will approve subcontractor procedures.

The Contractor will ensure that all reviewed, applicable, Contractor andsubcontractor, radiographic examination procedures are available to the YERPinspectors onsite.
