100 Year Celebration of Secondary Education at Kerang
Come and see how the school has changed, catch up with classmates and help us to Celebrate 100 Years of secondary Education in the town of Kerang. The Celebratory Dinner is rapidly approaching on the 25th of October. Unfortunately all the spaces are now full. Please come along to the arranged tours which will take place on the Friday and the Saturday. We will also leave the display up for a while in the front foyer of Thornely Hall for people to view.
Tour Times
Friday: Leaving from the office every half hour from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
Saturday: Leaving from the front of the school at 10:00am and 11:00am.
Art work
As part of the schools landscaping and beautification program a wall Mural of a Superb Fairy Wren has been painted by Mr Paul Oswin and his Art Students. It is designed to tie in with the new Food Technology area and provide a focal point for the canteen quadrangle area. As was posted on the KTHS Facebook Page…. ‘We’re lucky to have such talented staff and students at KTHS.’

MENTAL HEALTH WEEKNovember 5th-11th
Do you know how to talk to your children about mental health?
Warning signs of potential mental health issues in childrenBehaviours that last at least 3 weeks, such as:•Being less interested and involved in activities that they would normally enjoy•Change in appetite or sleeping pattern•Being easily irritated or angry, having negative thoughts and feeling stressed or worried for no reason•Decline in school, university or work performance•Involving themselves in risky behaviour that they would usually avoid
Encouraging your children to talk about mental health• Spend regular time with them•Show that you are interested in what is happening in their life•Take their feelings seriously, listen carefully and don’t judge•Let them know that you love them•Think of an appropriate place to discuss sensitive topics: on a walk, in the car, at home or outside of the home
Starting a conversation with your child about mental health• Begin with general questions such as ‘how is school going?’ or ‘how are you feeling about exams?’•Say ‘I’ve noticed that you seem to have a lot on your mind lately. I’m happy to talk or listen to see if I can help.’• Ask ‘It seems like you have not been yourself lately, how are things?’•Let them know that it’s okay if you don’t want to talk to you about it, and let them know that there are trusted people to talk to whether that be a family member or a professional.

The bird is a superb fairy-wren which is local to the area and the geometric patterns mimic the new hospitality building.
Congratulations, how amazing it is to have talented staff and students at our school. We hope to see more artwork popping up around the School.
KTHS is very lucky to have 2 amazing Artists on Staff, Paul Oswin and Danida Heitbaum - Ferres, who also work heavily with
