From coffee shop to global innovator, Bona has been family owned from the very start. Bona’s founder, Wilhelm Edner, originally owned a small grocery shop in Malmö, Sweden where he sold coffee and other products including ‘bonwax’ (floor polish). Edner quickly realised the potential of bonwax and, in 1919, incorporated a new company – Bona AB – to develop it further. Now, 100 years later, Bona is a leading player in the global wood floor industry and has a wealth of knowledge focused on bringing out the beauty in floors.

Bona is still owned by the Edner family and remains committed to developing, improving and finding new innovations not just for the treatment of wood floors but also for other types of flooring such as stone, tile, laminate and resilient.

Today, Bona has 600 employees and is present in 90 countries through subsidiaries and distributors.

Passion for Wood FloorsThe Bona System and Lifetime Support The Bona System contains everything needed to bring

out the best in wood floors. Our product range includes

abrasives, sanding machines – including a dust free

sanding system, adhesives, coatings and products for

the ongoing maintenance of all types of wood floor in

Low VOC FormulationsSince 1997, the Association for the Control of

Emissions in Products for Floor Installation,

Adhesives and Building Materials (GEV)

certifies low-emission construction products

with the quality mark GEV EMICODE®. Bona lacquers

were the first in the industry to be awarded the EMICODE

EC1 trademark. Bona’s reactive adhesives also carry this

important classification.

All adhesives and surface treatments used in

new installations in Germany have to meet the

DIBt standard that governs the safety of indoor

air quality. Where indicated in this brochure, Bona

adhesives and coatings meet this stringent certification.

GreenguardOur lacquers, primers and retail cleaning

products are GREENGUARD certified.

The globally recognised GREENGUARD

Certification is part of UL Environment,

a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories).

GREENGUARD Certification helps manufacturers create,

and buyers identify, interior products and materials that

have low chemical emissions, improving the quality of

the air in which the products are used.

Europe and offers a range of sanding machines

Bona Care ProgramFacility managers should speak to us about our

separate range of products for deep cleaning,

protecting and recoating wood and resilient

floors including vinyl, PVC, linoleum and rubber. Recoating

a resilient floor delivers a 50% saving against the cost of

Revive effectively with little downtimeThe Bronze Treatment is a new effective way of keeping

floors beautiful, bringing dull wooden floors back to

life in an instant. This quick revival delivers remarkable

results between floor renovations, and the floor is ready

to be walked on after as little as half a working day.

Using the Bona Power Scrubber machine with the

specially formulated Bona Deep Clean Solution, the

wooden surface is effectively deep cleaned, so even

the toughest dirt, grime and scuff marks are removed.

The floor is then ready for a fresh layer of polish, oil, or

refresher, depending on the type of finish.

Extend time before renovationThe Silver Treatment is an excellent alternative to a full

renovation, with less downtime and cost.

High performance Bona Diamond Abrasives are used

to prepare the surface by removing scratches and

wear. The perfectly smooth sanded surface can then

be recoated with Bona Traffic HD, oil or hardwax oil,

giving the floor a new layer of durable protection with

perfect adhesion to the layer beneath.

Ready for a full renovationWhen the floor is severely damaged or yellowed,

showing deep scratches and a completely lifeless

appearance, the Gold Treatment is recommended.

Going for Gold Treatment not only gives a total renewal

of the floor’s beauty and protection, it also opens up

Bona Adhesives Specification Guide

Bona Adhesive Typical Use

Bona R848 A high performance adhesive for the installation of engineered timber flooring. Can

also be used for solid boards up to 190 mm wide.

Bona R848T A higher viscosity version of R848 which feels thicker and has an improved initial

grab that reduces the risk of hollow spots. The sausage pack offers an alternative for

use in gun applicators, a longer shelf life and virtually no waste.

Bona R850 A true all rounder suitable for practically all types of wood flooring and subfloors, in

particular solid floors. Its hard elastic properties make it strong and resistant against

movement of wood while relieving tension on the sub floor.

Bona R850T A higher viscosity version of R850 so it feels thicker and has an improved initial grab

that reduces the risk of hollow spots. The sausage pack offers an alternative for use

in gun applicators, a longer shelf life and virtually no waste.

Bona Titan When you’re faced with a special challenge – a unique project or a high value

installation where the quality of the bond needs to be guaranteed – then it’s time to

turn to Bona Titan. An unbeatable bond!

Bona R880 A very strong rapid setting silane adhesive for use in general construction. Fix door

trims, stair nosing, skirting etc. Bona R880 can be accelerated with the use of water.

Bona R778 A two-component polyurethane adhesive which is more rigid when cured. R778

gives the firmest hold making the floor less prone to climatic movement. Perfect for

very wide and long boards.

Bona R200 An expanding polyurethane adhesive for filling hollow spots beneath installed flooring.

Bona D700 A high performance water based (D3) adhesive for the installation of engineered

flooring when laid as a ‘floating’ installation. Applied to the groove of the flooring,

D700 is resistant to moisture and extremes of humidity.

Bona Scrad SystemPad for Bona FlexiSand and Bona Buffer. The Bona Scrad System is a unique abrasive system specially suited for intermediate sanding between coats of varnish. It combines an abrasive Scrad Wing with a soft conditioning pad that cuts off wood fibres and smoothes out scratches at the same time.
