    Though famed for its beaches andvibrancy, in contrast, Bournemouthand its surrounding areas are hometo churches and cathedrals of fascinating cultural, historical andnational significance.

    Bournemouths most famous literaryassociation is with the Shelley family.Mary Shelley, author of Frankensteinand wife of the romantic poet PercyBysshe Shelley, is buried in StPeters Church graveyard, along with
