DEATHS Teresa Darlene Shands, 67, of Las Vegas and a former longtime Lampasas resident, died at home Dec. 25, 2020 after sufering a stroke on June 30. Teresa was born on Dec. 22, 1953 to Butch and Gerene Reed. She married Jerald Lee Goins in 1969. They had twin daughters Jennifer and Stephanie before Jerald’s untimely death in 1974. Teresa met Richard “Ricky” Shands in Pasadena. They moved to Lampasas in 1980 and were married on March 5, 1981. They eventually moved to Las Vegas, where they lived at the time of her death. Teresa also was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father Butch Reed and Rowena “Pat” Reed; daughter Jennifer Rae Goins; and a nephew, Alex Reed. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ricky Shands; mother, Gerene; daughters Stephanie Goins Estredge and husband Justin, Cindy Key and husband David, and Sandi Touchet and husband Jacob, all of Gatesville; son, Richard Shands and wife Shillo, also of Gatesville; grandchildren Amber, Courtney, Kasie, Nathan, Cameron, Kayla, Karli, Dalton, David, Ricky, Sam, CJ, Ashlynn and Cera; numerous great- grandchildren; and brothers Mike Reed and wife Narda, and Damon Reed and wife Rachel. A memorial service will be held March 20, 2021, with details still to come. He said the enrollment has fallen slightly since December, as some high school seniors graduated one semester early. Chief Financial Ofcer Shane Jones said the district soon will seek bids for the construction of an automotive technology building at the high school. In other business, trustees voted to ratify a calendar for the 2021-2022 term. School will start Aug. 12 and end May 20, and students will receive fve days of vacation for Thanksgiving, 11 for Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Renee Cummings, principal of Taylor Creek Elementary School, and Nancy Randolph, a teacher at the Taylor Creek campus, have submitted letters of resignation. Cummings’ resignation will be efective June 30, and Randolph’s will be efective May 21. Trustees voted to issue a School District Teaching Permit to Glenn Shoemaker, a frefghter and emergency medical technician, allowing him to teach Career and Technical Education courses. The board also voted to call a May 1 school board election. Places 1, 2 and 3 will be up for election, and Rascoe said candidates have fled to run for each place. Keith was born Aug. 25, 1965, in San Saba to Kenneth Lee and Roberta Darlene Brooks. He was known as a man with a great sense of humor. For most of his career, Keith worked as a heavy equipment operator. One of his favorite hobbies was trapping hogs, and he was known as the "hog trapper." Keith was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Lynn Brooks, and his parents. Chuck Montgomery said the police department believes the incidents are related and occurred late Tuesday or early Wednesday. The suspect or suspects appear to have shot the windows of reporting parties’ vehicles with a BB gun or other device that projected a BB, he said. Montgomery advises Lampasas residents to report any new property damage and suspicious activity to the police department. Sgt. Investigator Nick Roberts is leading the investigation on the case.

Teresa Darlene Shands, 67, of Las Vegas and a former longtime Lampasas resident, died at home Dec. 25, 2020 after suffering a stroke on June 30.
