1. ONE RAILWAY STATION IN TWO STATESThe Navapur railway station lies on the border of 2 states: one half of it falls under Gujarat and the other half in Maharashtra.

2. A TALE OF TWO STATIONS AND ONE PLACEBelapur and Srirampur are two different stations located on opposite sides of the same track in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district.

3. WHAT’S IN A NAME?The longest station name is Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta, near Chennai. The shortest station name is IB, in Odisha and Od, in Gujarat.

4. OLD IS GOLDThe Fairy Queen which used to run between New Delhi and Alwar was certified in 1998 by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest steam locomotive in regular operation.

5. HIGH & MIGHTYThe under-construction Chenab railway bridge, in J&K, is expected to be one of the highest rail bridges in the world, when completed. It is designed to be 5 times higher than the Qutab Minar and even taller than the Eiffel tower!

6. SLOW & STEADYThe Metupalayam Ooty Nilgiri passenger train runs at a speed of 10 km/hr and is the slowest train in India.

7. BUSY BEEHowrah Junction is the busiest station in India, handles almost 974 arrivals/departures per day.

8. LONG AND SHORT OF IT!Vivek Express travels a distance of 4273 km, from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari, thus making it the longest run in terms of total time and distance in Indian Railways. The shortest run is between Nagpur and Ajni stations situated at a distance of just 3km from each other.

9. BIG BOSSIndian Railways is one of the world's largest employers (#7, according to the Economist magazine), staffing over 1.4 million people.

10. PRIDE OF PLACE4 Indian Railways sites have been declared "World Heritage sites" by UNESCO:
