Tools required:

1. Sockets: 10, 17, 18, 19mm

2. Socket wrench

3. 6-10” Extension

4. Universal drive socket.

5. Ring spanners: 10mm, 17mm, 19mm

6. Allen keys or Allen key sockets: 4, 5, 8mm

7. Torx sockets or Torx keys: T50, T 55

Step 1: (Removal of existing bash plates)

1.1 Place the motorcycle on the centre stand. Remove the standard OE bash plate including

the x2 brackets which mounts to the engine. If any aftermarket bash plates were installed,

remove these completely.

Step 2: (Removal of engine bolts & bush preparation)

2.1 Remove the top rear frame to engine bolt and nut completely in the left picture below.

(Not to be used again in the fitment). Insert spacer bushes (diameter 25 x 48mm long)

supplied in kit left and right, in the frame where the engine bolt was removed (right hand

picture below).

2.2 Remove these Torx bolts left and right side in the pictures below. These x2 BMW-OE bolts

will be used again in the fitment of the protection bars.

Step 3: (Mounting point preparation)

3.1 Underneath the radiators, you will find these frames mounting positions on the left and

right-hand side of the motorcycle. These are in front of the cylinder heads as can be seen in

the picture below. Clean these holes of possible welding spatter or excess paint with a round

file if necessary. The (X2) M10x 30mm Allen cap screws supplied in the kit should fit freely for

easy installation later.

Step 4: (Fitment of the Left-hand protection bar assembly)

4.1 Take the left-hand assembly as shown in the picture below. Open the side stand at

approximately 70%. (Not fully extended.)

4.2 Place the bars behind the side stand and lift carefully into position. Lift and tilt the

protection bar outwards to clear the cylinder heads.

4.3 As you lift the bars into position, you will have to fold the side stand into the closed

position (riding position). The clamp bracket unto the frame, above the side stand, should be

in the position as seen in the right-hand picture below.

4.4 The front upper mounting position should be behind the frame bracket on the motorcycle

as can be seen in the left picture below. No force will be required and be careful not to scratch

the cylinder heads. Install the front left M10x30mm Allen screw with washers and nyloc nut as

seen below. Take up the slack, but don't tighten any bolts yet.

4.5 Insert the engine to frame M12 hexagon bolt supplied in the kit. Make sure the bushes

(L&R) are in place as per Step 2.1.

4.7 Install the plastic clamp as can be seen in the picture below (right hand picture). Take up

the slack, but don't tighten yet.

Step 5: (Fitment of the Right-hand protection bar assembly)

5.1 Install the right-hand protection bar assembly. Lift carefully into position, taking care not

to scratch the engine. No force will be necessary in the fitment.

5.2 Make sure the front right hand mounting bracket is also behind the frame mounting

position as per the left-hand side. Install the new M10x30 Allen bolt supplied in this position.

(Pictures below)

5.3 The rear engine to frame mounting position should be as follows: -

Make sure the spacer bush is in place, push the bolt through and fit the flat washer and M12

Nylon nut supplied in the kit as in the picture below.

5.4 The right hand lower mounting position should be installed with the original Torx screw

removed in Step 2.2 Don't tighten yet.

Step 6: (Connecting the left and right-hand protection bars)

6.1 Connect the x 2 half clamps as seen below with the (X2) M6 x30mm Allen screws, washers

and nyloc nuts supplied in the kit. Take up the slack, but don't tighten yet.

6.2 Connect the (x3) bash plate mounting plates with the tapped connector plates and Button

head screws (M8x 16mm). Take up all the slack, but don't tighten yet.

Note: On the stainless-steel bar fitment (SKU 10-185) you might have a bigger gap than

normal between the left & right mounting plates. Use a ratchet strap or similar over the

lower crash bar tubes to close the gap.

6.3 Tighten the bolts & nuts in Step 6.1

Step 7: (Fitment of the bash plate)

7.1 Make sure the U-Nuts (Speed nuts) are centralized with the hole. This is done with an Allen

key as seen in the picture below. Push a 4mm Allen key through the mounting plate and the U

nut and rotate carefully at an angle to centre the u nuts for easy fitment of the bash plate.

11

7.2 Install the bash plate loosely with (x6) M8x20mm button head screws. The slight bend at

the front of the bash plate should face upwards. Don't tighten yet.

Step 8: (Fastening of all bolts & nuts)

8.1 Fastened all bolts and nuts evenly. The bash plate and connecting plates will be fastened

last. These are tightened through the holes in the centre of the bash plate.

The fitment is now complete.

Note:

It is recommended to inspect the Protection bars for any damage or loose bolts after any

crash and during regular services. Replace any damaged parts.
