comparing the climate of the tropics with a

Yesterday you located the Equator on a globe.

Did you notice the lines above and below the

Equator? Do you know what they are called?

They are the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic

of Capricorn. These lines are like the Equator;

they do not exist in the physical world but are

drawn on maps to help identify areas and

climate zones.

The area between the lines is known as ‘The

Tropics’. The weather between the Tropics of

Cancer and Capricorn is hot all year round.
