What about academics?Students can take major requirements, electives, and general education courses while abroad – there really is something for everyone! If you study through an approved Purdue program, all of your classes come back as direct Purdue Credit!

How can I stay on track for graduation?

• Plan Early!• Work with your academic advisor to determine what degree

requirements you need to complete while studying abroad• Research course offerings to determine if a program is a good fit• Meet with a study abroad advisor for help determining what classes

here at Purdue!

Financial Resources for Study Abroad:

Purdue Scholarships

Semester Study Abroad Funding: Up to $7,000 Available- Purdue Moves Semester Scholarship = Up to $5,000- Semester Abroad Intercultural Learning (SAIL) Scholarship = $2,000

Short Term Study Abroad Funding: Up to $3,000 Available- Purdue Moves Short Term Scholarship = $500 to $3,000

Financial AidIf you normally receive financial aid, you may be able to use it

for your program!

Many scholarships, grants, and even loans can be used

towards most study abroad programs.

Some scholarships or aid may have restrictions on what it can

be used for, consult our website or ask a study abroad advisor or financial aid officer for more information!

COVID-19 and Study Abroad

Current status of Purdue Study Abroad Programs:

• Spring 2021: Programs have been suspended.

• Spring Break 2021: Suspended due to changes in the university calendar, which eliminated spring break 2021.

• Summer and Fall 2021: At this time, we anticipate these programs will be running, though some may have some changes or adjustments.

Any updates will be communicated by our office as we have them.

COVID-19 and Study AbroadPurdue is closely monitoring the world-wide situation and uses many factors to determine if a program will run. These include but are not limited to:

• U.S. Department of State Travel Alerts

• C.D.C. Travel Guidelines

• Travel restrictions and border closures – ability to enter/leave the country and/or obtain a visa

• Program’s ability to safely host students and a review of what procedures and protocols are in place

COVID-19 and Study Abroad

Study abroad will be back when it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, now is a great time for students to plan ahead for future study abroad programs!

Study abroad advisors are available to help students pick the most appropriate program for their needs and goals, and students can consult with their academic advisors to help work study abroad seamlessly into their plan of study.
