Patriots and Loyalists

The war divided families and communities between Patriots, who sided with the colonists desire to be free from Britain, and Loyalists, who wanted to remain loyal to Britain.

Most famously, this divided Benjamin Franklin from his son William, who remained loyal to the King of Britain.
