The evening reception will also take place on the Castle premises, on Thursday 28 November from 18.00 to 20.00. Please note the event is only open to participants who registered before the registration deadline through the registration web page and were accepted as participants by the organiser. Get off on the ‘Hrad / Bratislava Castle’ stop, walk a few minutes to the Castle gate (Viedenská brána/ Vienna Gate) and follow the Clean Air Forum signage to the entrance. We strongly encourage you to use public transport or walk, and to avoid arriving with your own car. Primatial Palace (Bratislava City Hall) – 27 Nov (and a side event on 28 Nov)

The town hall discussion and welcome cocktail will take place in the Hall of Mirrors of the Primatial Palace (Bratislava City Hall) on the eve of the Forum, on Wednesday 27 November from 19.00 to 21.00. Please note that registration for this event via the official Clean Air Forum registration form was required and the venue capacity has now been reached. On Thursday 28 November from 19.30 to 21.00 a panel discussion on ‘The air we breathe:

Improving air quality at European, national and local level’ is organised as an official side event of the 2019 EU Clean Air Forum. This will take place at the Justi Hall of the Primatial Palace (Bratislava City Hall). The panel discussion is open to audiences beyond the registered participants of the Clean Air Forum. About the Primatial Palace The Palace was built in the period 1778-1781 on the property originally belonging to the archbishop of Esztergom and is one of the most beautiful classicist buildings in Slovakia. In its interiors, you can see the historical exhibition of portraits of the Hungarian rulers. Since 1903, The Primatial Palace has served as the city hall.

3. Getting to Bratislava

Bratislava Airport Bratislava Airport (M.R. Štefánik Airport) is the biggest airport in Slovakia. To get to the city centre: By bus: To get to the city centre, take the bus no. 61 in front of the airport (timetable: https://bit.ly/2NQT33o), get off at the bus stop ‘Trnavské mýto’ and continue by tram no. 4 in the direction ‘Chatam Sófer’ or tram no. 9 in the direction ‘Nám. SNP/ The SNP square’. The most convenient tram stop to get off will vary depending on where your hotel is. However, ‘Kamenné námestie’ on the tram 4 route or ‘Nám. SNP/ The SNP square’ on the tram 9 route are as central as it gets. Vienna International Airport (Schwechat) is about 40km/ a one-hour bus ride away from Bratislava city centre. The bus stop is located in front of the airport, just follow the bus signs. 4. Getting around Bratislava Bratislava is a walking city with a small, highly pedestrianised city centre. If you need to move around faster, you can use the public transportation system of trams, buses and trolley-buses.

Tickets Please note that public transport tickets cannot be purchased from the driver. You have to buy them in advance at a newspaper kiosk, in a yellow ticket machine located on most bus and tram stops (cash only), or through the IDS BK app. Paper tickets must be validated upon entering the vehicle, tickets bought through an app are issued with a timestamp so there is no need for further validation.

Bratislava Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and serves as its cultural, economic and governmental centre with a population of over 500 000 people. In the past, Bratislava used to be an important economic and administrative centre of the Kingdom of Hungary and because of that it is known under other names, such as Pozsony in Hungarian and Pressburg in German. Languages The most common foreign language spoken in Bratislava is English, followed by German. Interpretation from English and Slovak to English, Slovak, German, Hungarian and Polish will be provided during the main conference sessions at the Castle. Interpretation from English and Slovak will be provided during the public panel discussion in the evening of 28 November. Opening hours Buses: Every day, 24-hour service Trams: Every day from 05:00 till 23:30 Shops, post offices, pharmacies and banks: there are no fixed opening hours for all of them. Dinner: 18-20 Mobile phone coverage and Internet If you have a contract with a mobile phone provider in the European Union, you will not get charged for roaming (data, calls, text messages). Telekom, Orange and O2 – the biggest Slovak mobile phone operators – have roaming agreements with most international mobile phone companies and provide users with a good coverage nationwide. Most cafés and pubs still allow smoking, but cannot serve food due to the anti-smoking law requirements.
