Field demonstrations were carried out by the farmer groups; the list of potentially viable adaptation options were presented to the local farmer groups before each season to chose the most suitable adaptation options for their localities; demonstrations were initiated by the farmers themselves. Interestingly poor marginal farmers were selected and all the preparatory works were carried out by the farmers themselves.
Farmers groups considered mini‐ponds, growing Jujubi (ber), dry seedbed for rice and homestead gardens as most important adaptation options. In total there were about 36 mini pond demonstrations initiated in four Upazillas, where irrigation facilities through deep tube well is not existent.
