Our Story

S.J. Electric/LADD Electric S.J. Electric was founded in Thomastown, Victoria by Ken Stanley and Harold Jackson in 1968. The business quickly established a presence in switchboard manufacture and electrical installations in the supermarket and retail sectors. In 1984, we expanded into Brisbane, Queensland followed by a further expansion into Sydney, New South Wales in 1987. In 1997 we opened a branch office in Perth, Western Australia, with further expansion into Hobart, Tasmania in 2006. In 2008 we completed our objective of a truly national coverage by establishing a division in Adelaide, South Australia.

Ladd Electric Pty Ltd was founded in 2002 and established to provide specialist electrical contracting, engineering and switchboard manufacturing services to industry in Victoria and NSW. In 2004, Church Electrical Industries (CEI) became a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladd Electrical Pty Ltd operating as a division of Ladd Electric Pty Ltd. Ladd Electric Pty Ltd, S.J. Electric Pty Ltd and SEME Solutions merged on November 11th, 2008 to form the Trivantage Group. The Trivantage Group brings together the expertise of some of Australia’s most experienced and respected electrical and security specialists under one brand.

All of our switchboards come pre-wired for quick and easy installation, with sufficient space and termination for large cables where required.

Main Switchboards and Motor Control Centres Our talented and experienced team have been leading the way in the custom-design and manufacture of Australia’s highest quality main switchboards for over 40 years. Because we custom-build our main switchboards, we can source and install various brands of switchgear and control gear, enhancing cost effectiveness when and if a specific brand is requested by a customer. All of our motor control centres are completed in-house from start to finish. SEGURA - AS/NZS 61439 Certified Modular Switchboards

When Standards Australia notified the industry of new standard AS/NZ 61439.1:2016 in 2016, we listened. Trivantage Manufacturing has spent the last 12 months developing a full range of 100% Australian designed and manufactured modular switchboards from fully Type tested (design verified) modular main switchboards (SEGURA-P), motor control centres (SEGURA-M) and (SEGURA-E) MSB through to an IP42 modular distribution board system (SEGURA-D) and meter panel (SEGURA-MP).

SEGURA means safe, sure, secure, reliable & dependable with the SEGURA switchboard capable of withstanding a 65,000A arc fault at any position in the switchboard (including line side & main busbar). The innovative modular design was put to the test and proven under the most onerous line size load size arc fault testing, the structure containing the arc fault in all areas of the switchboard. Although the new SEGURA range is a modular product, Trivantage Manufacturing has all the in-house capabilities to build any fully customised switchboard. Trivantage are proud that the new range of modular switchboards will deliver the highest level of operator safety in Australia.

Medium Voltage Kiosks At Trivantage Manufacturing we realise Kiosk Substations are an integral part of any complete electrical network.

CASE STUDY WestConnex Motorway Project PROJECT OVERVIEW The supply of a range of custom-built Main and Distribution Switchboards for the WestConnex Motorway Extension project PROJECT DETAILS Client Name: WestConnex Location: Sydney The Trivantage Manufacturing Division has worked on 3 major projects under the WestConnex banner to date, supplying a range of Main Switchboards and Distribution Boards to both the M4 and M5 sections of the new WestConnex Motorway extensions in Sydney. As the new motorway will be providing crucial support for Sydney’s long-term economic and population growth, the contractors had to have confidence that the switchboards supplied were manufactured with long-term asset longevity in mind, as well as providing the highest possible operational safety on the market.

It was our proven experience in delivering similar, large-scale projects throughout Australia combined with our drive to innovate in the form a new AS/NZ 61439.1:2016 certified switchboard range (SEGURA) that set us apart from the field.

Given the scale of these projects, our team quickly defined the scope of the works and set in place a robust project plan, coordinating manufacturing over multiple workshops to be able to deliver the large number of boards to schedule whilst ensuring that every board met the highest-quality standards.

The scope of works included:

WestConnex M4 distribution Boards Trivantage Manufacturing supplied a total of 173 Distribution Boards (7 Kinds) for the WestConnex M4 section of motorway, a majority of which were constructed utilising our non-welded modular DB system.

WestConnex M5 EER Distribution Boards We supplied 108 (a range of 690V & 400V Light & Power) EER Distribution Boards. The M5 EER Distribution Boards have been constructed utilising a hybrid version of the Trivantage Manufacturing SEGURA Modular switchboard system.

WestConnex M5 400V Main Switchboards and 400V/ 690V UDB Switchboards Trivantage Manufacturing supplied 2 x 400V Main Switchboards, 9 x 690V Distribution Boards and 11 x 400V Distribution Boards for the M5 section of the WestConnex motorway.

The successful delivery of these projects comes down to an experienced and dedicated team that always go the extra mile to ensure our customers receive market-leading products and service.

CASE STUDY Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre

PROJECT OVERVIEW The supply of Switchboards for the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC). PROJECT DETAILS Client Name: The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Location: Victoria Project Value: $7 million AThe Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is a $1 billion purpose-built facility for cancer research, treatment and care located in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville. It is the home of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and provides new cancer research and clinical facilities for Melbourne Health and The University of Melbourne. Trivantage Manufacturing was engaged by the principal electrical contractor to supply:

2 x 5000amp Main Switchboards, 1 x 7200amp Generator Switchboard (this switchboard was part of an accelerated program

and was delivered in 6 weeks) 195 x Custom Distribution Boards with Lighting Control Cubicles.

This project presented a number of challenges for the Trivantage Manufacturing team. Trivantage engaged in extensive switchboard development to come up with a solution that would overcome the limitations placed on them given the relatively small area that had been allocated for the main switch room. The Trivantage team worked closely with the main electrical contractor and their own project management team to deliver a solution that ensured the modular main and generator switchboards achieved not only achieved ratings of 3200A at 63kA for one second & 7,200A at 80kA respectively but also maximised the limited space available. The result of all of the development and testing undertaken by the team at Trivantage ensured an extremely successful delivery as the works were completed in full, on time and within budget. PROJECT OVERVIEWAirtrunk Data Centres located in the West of Sydney and West of Melbourne are the largest hyperscale data centres in Australia. The Sydney Data Centre has a total Megawatt Capacity 90MW+, 1.15 PUE, facility has 36 Data Halls over 34,500 m2 Technical Data Halls and Office area. The Melbourne Data Centre has a total Megawatt Capacity 84MW+, 1.15 PUE, facility has 34 Data Halls over 38,000 m2 Technical Data Halls and Office area.PROJECT DETAILSClient Name: Siemens Ltd Division: Trivantage ManufacturingLocation: Sydney & Melbourne Project Value: $3.3 millionStart Date: October 2017 Completion Date: March 2019Project Scope of WorksSiemens Australia engaged Trivantage Manufacturing to design and manufacture a range of medium voltage kiosks for both the Sydney and Melbourne Data Centres. The scope of works included:

• 1x 500kVA and 21x 1500kVA 22kV Kiosks to the NSW Data Centre• 25x 2000kVA 22kV Kiosks to the NSW Data Centre • 18x 2000kVA 22kV Kiosks to the Victoria Data Centre

Encompassing:• Installation of Siemens free issue 22KV Transformers and Ring Main Units• Procurement and Engineering of the Plinths and kiosk enclosures • Commissioning and termination of HV cabling • Manufacture of LV Switchboards and Installation of LV cabling • Client witness factory acceptance testing of the free issue PLC and associated components.

The project program dictated that a total of 64 Kiosks were needed to be delivered in 3 stages to 2 locations keeping to a very tight delivery schedule. Given the extremely tight delivery schedule, the Trivantage Manufacturing team worked closely with our Sheetmetal Division to develop a standardised modular design (created using our SolidWorks software) that would deliver a fully equipped kiosk that could be manufactured in both our Queensland and Victorian workshops concurrently.Once the kiosks were built the client was invited to our NSW workshop where multiple FATs were conducted, showcasing the inclusive and consultative approach we take with all of our clients.The ability to be able to keep all of the work in-house as well as being able to utilise multiple workshop facilities nationally is what separates Trivantage Manufacturing from its competitors. PROJECT OVERVIEW The supply of Switchboards for the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC). PROJECT DETAILS Client Name: The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Location: Victoria Project Value: $7 million AThe Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is a $1 billion purpose-built facility for cancer research, treatment and care located in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville. It is the home of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and provides new cancer research and clinical facilities for Melbourne Health and The University of Melbourne. Trivantage Manufacturing was engaged by the principal electrical contractor to supply:

2 x 5000amp Main Switchboards, 1 x 7200amp Generator Switchboard (this switchboard was part of an accelerated program

and was delivered in 6 weeks) 195 x Custom Distribution Boards with Lighting Control Cubicles.

This project presented a number of challenges for the Trivantage Manufacturing team. Trivantage engaged in extensive switchboard development to come up with a solution that would overcome the limitations placed on them given the relatively small area that had been allocated for the main switch room. The Trivantage team worked closely with the main electrical contractor and their own project management team to deliver a solution that ensured the modular main and generator switchboards achieved not only achieved ratings of 3200A at 63kA for one second & 7,200A at 80kA respectively but also maximised the limited space available. The result of all of the development and testing undertaken by the team at Trivantage ensured an extremely successful delivery as the works were completed in full, on time and within budget.
