Initially developed on the parkland around Selly Hall, Selly Park is a pleasant residential community situated south west of Birmingham city centre. Selly Park, as the name suggests, has extensive local parkland. Cannon Hill Park is nearby and the Midlands Art Centre and the Birmingham Nature Centre lie adjacent to the Park.

Although The Stables is less than 2 miles from the city centre, it sits in a very quiet environment. Selly Park is well placed for public transport, both Bristol Road and Pershore Road provide direct routes to the city centre, and Selly Oak railway station gives access to travel further afield.
