Mask has loose fit, it doesn't seal nose and mouth snugly.During respiration air moves along the edges of the mask, while respirator has tight seal and most of the times air passes only through its material after filtration.

4 What is the efficiency grading

According to the efficiency of filtration these are usually graded as-95, 99 and 100. Means these respirator masks are capable of trapping 95%, 99% and 99.9% of particles, smaller up to the 0.3 micron size.This grading can also be done as per filtration efficiency:P1 (FFP1) - 80%P2 (FFP2) - 95%P3 (FFP3) - 99.95%

That valve is nothing but a simple exhalation port with one way valve mechanism, it reduces effort of expiration, reduce heat inside the mask, dissipate humidity and reduce co2 the amount of from the dead space of mask.

Mask should be certified by theNIOSH (National institute for occupational safety and health)OrNPPTL (National personal protective technology laboratory)

8 Is cloth mask effective Cloth is a woven material thus pore size is bigger than surgical mask which is made up of non woven polypropylene material thus cloth mask is less effective than surgical mask in terms of filtration efficiency.

No, it's not advisable. Each extra layer adds only 2% of extra protection on the cost of comfort .

Yes these can be used routinely. Few studies done on normal population concluded that the use of simple mask can decrease the incidence of flu up to 75%.Few East Asian countries following this practice of routine use of mask.

11 Can mask be reused -Cloth mask can be reused after washing- Surgical mask should be discarded after single use or after soiled- Respirator mask should be discarded when resistance of breathing get increased or get soiled.-Viruses/bacteria can grow and flourish inside the reused mask





Guidelines for using Masks

• Perform hand hygiene

• Unfold the pleats; make sure that they are facing down.

• Place over nose, mouth and chin.

• Fit flexible nose piece over nose bridge.

• Secure with tie strings (upper string to be tied on top of head above the ears –lower string at the back of the neck.

• Ensure there are no gaps on either side of the mask, adjust to fit.

• Do not let the mask hanging from the neck.

• Change the mask after six hours or as soon as they become wet.

• Disposable masks are never to be reused and should be disposed off.

• Use face mask or face cover before stepping out of the house.

• Carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you.

• Avoid using public transport.

• Keep windows of cars open.

• Do not ride on pillions on two wheelers.

• Maintain social distancing when queuing up for lifts or at entry door.

• Use staircase where feasible.

• Ensure you are screened for temperature at entry and exit. Temperature range (99.5 deg F or 37.5).

• Chauffeur should maintain hygiene for himself and passenger

• After dropping off the passenger, chauffeur should sanitize his own hands first and then sanitize car

• Vehicle sanitization should be done before and after dropping the passenger

• The chauffeur should sanitise the seats, door handles and all surfaces.

• Once the car has been fully sanitised, the chauffeur will then wash his hands again.

For the Passenger

• Sit directly behind the chauffer and donot keep mobile on the seat

• After dropping off the passenger, chauffeur should sanitize his own hands first and then sanitize car

elevators, security guard booths, office rooms, meeting rooms, cafeteria should be

• For metallic surfaces like door handles, security locks, keys etc. 70% alcohol can be used to wipe down surfaces where the use of bleach is not suitable.

• Hand sanitizing stations should be installed in office premises (especially at the entry) and near high contact surfaces.

• In a meeting/conference/office room, if someone is coughing, without following respiratory etiquettes or mask, the areas around his/her seat should be vacated and cleaned with 1% sodium hypochlorite.

• Carefully clean the equipment used in cleaning at the end of the cleaning process.

• Remove PPE, discard in a disposable PPE in yellow disposable bag and wash hands with soap and water.

• In addition, all employees should clean the work area in front of them with a disinfecting wipe prior to use.

MANAGEMENT OF COVID 19 EMERGENCIES


Clarifications regarding Administrative action on Covid cases• The location/source of a COVID infection cannot be confirmed at the outset without

contact tracing.

• In case a person is tested positive, contact tracing will be done in his home, community,

travel and workplace. The source could be any of these and will only be confirmed by the

health authorities.

• In case of a COVID positive case health authorities will inspect a site

• Documentary evidence of precautions being taken is essential to ensure that a site continues to function.

• Under normal circumstances a site will not be sealed by the local health authorities unless it is non-compliant or the number of cases are too high.

• Final decision to restart operations or not rests with the local health authorities based on the prevailing situation in the area.

Definition of a contact (WHO)
