Problems in Paqarimuy
• Short growing season and high altitude limit agriculture
• Fire destroyed village two years ago• Conflict between Paqarimuy and sister village of
Taquile• Strained relations between villagers and leaders
– Some villagers didn’t like new home sites– Some villagers wanted stone rather than adobe
homes
