Remember what I said at P1, opening session? “… to decommission the term metadata, and then realize that we only used it because we were not specific enough about about” ;-)

I have a folder with all the “hate mail” I received

Now RDA has 4 metadata groups, and 4 sessions at P6 (depending on how you count)

Go ahead, create all the metadata you want, we’ll “materialize” some of it into triples based on semantics for use!

Late semantic binding! Go ahead, create all the schema and encodings

you want but remember – semantics now lives in an open-world and It is linked.

You are not the only source of metadata. Not all metadata is formalized. Link over map.

Semantics make metadata useful but we do not need all of your metadata for use

Origin or source from which something comes, intention for use, who/what generated for, manner of manufacture, history of subsequent owners, sense of place and time of manufacture, production or discovery, documented in detail sufficient to allow reproducibility

Provenance: metadata in a given context! Swallow that.
