    BABA’S ASSURANCES

    • Why fear when I am here?

    • I am formless and everywhere.

    • I am in everything and beyond. I fill all space.

    • All that you see taken together is Myself.

    • I do not shake or move.

    • If one devotes their entire time to me and rests in me, need

fear nothing for body and soul.

    • If one sees me and me alone and listens to my Leelas and is

devoted to me alone, they will reach God.

    • My business is to give blessings.

    • I get angry with none. Will a mother get angry with her

    children?

    • Will the ocean send back the waters to the several rivers?

    • I will take you to the end.

    • Surrender completely to God.

    • If you make me the sole object of your thoughts and aims,

you will gain the supreme goal.

    • Trust in the Guru fully. That is the only sadhana.

  • 6 | P a g e h t t p s : / / s a i s a b u r i . o r g

    • I am the slave of my devotee.

    • Stay by me and keep quiet. I will do the rest.

    • What is our duty? To behave properly. That is enough.

    • My eye is ever on those who love me.

    • Whatever you do, wherever you may be, always bear this

in mind: I am always aware of everything you do.

    • If a devotee is about to fall, I stretch out my hands to

support him or her. • I think of my people day and night. I say their names over

    and over.

    • My treasury is open, but no one brings carts to take from it.

I say, “Dig!” but no one bothers.

    • My people do not come to me of their own accord; it is I

who seek and bring them to me.

    • All that is seen is my form: ant, fly, prince, and pauper

    DID BABA COME TO

MY RESCUE? (Posted by marvellous_maayu on August 25, 2019 in https://saisaburi.org , Saburi : You are in Sai World)

I am sharing my experience about how lovely and great it is to be a devotee of Shree Sai Baba.

In the first week of September 2018, I went to char dham along with my parents, family and friends. While going to Yamunotri, we all were quite excited. We were a party of twelve people. We decided to take a doli and a horse ride as it is very far, and the mountain trail was quite dangerous. My dad was talking to the person who offered the ride. Suddenly I suggested that we all could just walk, but none of them agreed.

However, one of our family friends, an uncle and his son, another aunt and my sister agreed to go walking. Five of us made the decision to walk and told everyone. My parents were not happy with it. This is because I am usually not someone who is physically active, and the high mountain trail would be tedious for me. But I was very sure about myself and I wanted to walk no matter what.

So, five of us started walking and we all were on our way to have Darshan. After 2 km while walking I met all of them who were on doli and on horse ride and they told me not to walk and take a horse ride. But I refused and continued walking. The people who were walking with me were ahead and I was quite behind, and I was walking all alone and was chanting “Jai Matadi” & “Om Sai”. I requested Baba to be with me. I often repeated this request while walking. The beautiful nature enticed me to take a halt after some time. I decided to look around and enjoy the beautiful nature.

I was in the middle of mountains with a river passing with a heavy sound. The water looked pristine white and crystal clear. The route was quite dangerous to walk. At most of the places only one person could walk and it was also muddy and slippery at many a places. The landslides which are common in this region had not helped the matters. I became nervous when a thought occurred to me, “what if I fall from this height into a deep gorge (khai) and no one will even be able to find me, and death would be a certainty”.

A few moments later I saw a healthy black furry dog standing beside me. Since I am usually scared of dogs, I naturally got scared seeing it and looked up into the skies and prayed to Baba to be with me. The dog kept staring at me. It was as if he was asking me to follow him. The dog started walking and I followed behind him.

The route was literally deserted with no-one in sight for long distances. It appeared as if it was just me and the dog on the journey. Whenever I would take a breather, the dog would wait patiently for me. The dog would frequently look behind and I felt that the kind creature was taking care of me in the mountains.

There came the portion of the trail where there was no railing to take support of while walking. The route was very dangerous, and I was dead scared to move an inch further. The dog could sense that I was scared. It came near me and stood on my right side. It moved its head as if it was telling me to move left while he walked closer to the side from which one could slip and fall down. This dangerous patch lasted about a hundred meters.

My eyes welled up with tears. The dog continued to walk with me. We crossed the first mountain. My sister and my cousin brother were waiting for me on the bridge connecting to the second mountain. They saw me from very far how that dog was walking with me and was being my companion and guide. Before this event I used to be scared of dogs; however, after this I fell in love with dogs. I couldn’t resist petting him as it was so fluffy and handsome.

I was very happy to meet my sister and I started telling here the journey which I shared with the dog. While I was engrossed in telling her the

  • 11 | P a g e h t t p s : / / s a i s a b u r i . o r g

story, the dog disappeared. I tried to look in all directions and could not figure out where it went.

My sister told me that Baba used to love dogs and then it hit me as if it was no other than Sai-Baba who was walking with me. My frantic chanting had made Him appear in the form of the dog. He was with me when there was no one else and I was terrified and nervous about being alone on that dangerous route. He reassured me through His presence in the form of the dog and ensures my safety. I had goose bumps while realizing this and I felt extremely happy by the grace which He showered upon me.

The three and a half hours of climbing up, darshan of about half an hour and two hours of climbing down all on my foot on that mountainous trail with mountain on one side and a deep gorge on the other side. And I did not even realize that I had a fracture in my leg and was able to meet this challenge.

SAI BABA HEARS EVERY PLEADING (Posted by Wayne (Rono) in https://saisaburi.org on 24th June, 2019. Wayne is from Australia and is an ardent devotee of Sathya Sai Baba / Shirdi Sai Baba)

This experience occurred in August 2010.

When one begins to surrender unto the Lord and adopt a new and proper way of life by doing good, seeing good and speaking good, the Lord then comes to the aid of that one whenever the need arises. I would like to tell of a couple of experiences I had when I was in need of one thing and yet, the other I received when I surrendered and left it to Swami.

My wife and I often go with my brother and his wife on camping trips deep within the Australian forests where clear waters run freely. We each have our own kayak and do travel along rivers which run between mountains. A beautiful sight indeed when the only living species that greets us along the way are kangaroo’s, wombats, possums and birds of all types and colours, not to mention the occasional large reptilian goanna’s (and) snakes.

My brother and I at times when least expecting it are given visions of deities along the way and in truth, these visions are only short lived, glimpses even, but they do leave a long and lasting impression on our mind as well as in our heart. And then there is the beautiful face of Swami which would unexpectedly appear by staring up at us from a reflection in the river waters. I guess He is just reminding us that He is always near.

On this particular trip I forgot to bring along my sunglasses as my eyes are very sensitive to the bright glare of the sun, especially when it reflects off the water. As it was too far to go back for my sunglasses, I decided to venture on while constantly speaking to Swami in my mind. Lord, please help me with this problem today, take the effects of the glare out of the sun so not to cause pain in my eyes, please Swami otherwise I would end up suffering with headache and this will spoil the trip for the others. (or something to that affect).

About an hour later while travelling up the river my brother points to a clearing on the embankment and says; let’s stop over there and have a cup of tea. All four kayaks pull in at the embankment and we all get out. For some unknown reason I began to walk into the dense bush as if looking for something, for what though I was not sure just a strong urge to enter the bush in which I was compelled to do.

This is the feeling on that day I am experiencing (within). Then all at once I see what I was meant to be looking for, SUNGLASSES – sitting neatly on the dried orange dirt. Here was a perfectly good pair of Polaroid sunglasses, sports style. I quickly walked over and gently picked them up – then slowly I looked them over with amazement, not a scratch on them and in perfect condition. With great gratitude in my heart and a loving smile on my face, I thanked Swami for His grace.

ALONG WITH SAI (Posted by mayvin2005 on July 19, 2019, in https://saisaburi.org : Saburi : You are in Sai World)

I want to share my experience to show that God is always with us to support and show us the way. Be patient and have faith in God, everything will be good over time.

When we came to Canada, it was peak recession time. Almost everyone around was losing the jobs they had. And as new immigrants, we were very worried while searching for jobs. We were unsure about the job prospects in the prevailing market conditions. We kept our faith in God and kept trudging ahead.

With God’s Grace, my husband got a break in a good company after about three months of landing in Canada. That was the first and only call my husband ever got for a job. Even though he posted his resume to many companies and placement agencies.

The assurance that at least one of us had the job helped us start our lives in a new country. After few months, I also got a good break and things started settling down slowly. As new immigrants to Canada, we had to start our life from scratch here starting from setting up house itself.

While we were setting our house, we were able to get stuff at discounted prices and we could not believe our luck at most places where we shopped. We felt that someone was supporting us at every stage of our life. Eventually we got settled down in our lives and we started planning for our baby.

As luck would be, there was a delay to test our faith and we underwent lots of stress and concerns while planning for our first child.

Overtime, I was blessed with a baby boy and by God’s grace we could also manage to buy our first home in time.

We are well settled in our lives only by Baba’s grace. Dear Sai Baba, please keep showering your blessings on our family and in fact everyone in this world.

NEEM KAROLI BABA KEEPS PROMISE This event happened during the Second World War. Chandra Shekar Pande, S.D.O, M.E.S, was very worried about his wife. She had fever for a long time and was now so emaciated that she was close to death. He sent a telegraph to his father-in law, Motiram who lived in Anupshahar. The elderly Motirarn was very disturbed at this news. He went to his Guru, Mauni baba, who was a highly elevated holy man of the time, and asked him, “O Gurudev, today I beg of you, please, somehow or the other, restore life to my daughter, or end my life also. ” Mauni baba remained in a meditative pose for some time and then said, “Only Baba Neem Karoli is capable of restoring life. You pray to him to fulfill your wish.” So, at Anupshahar, Motiram. meditated on Baba and prayed to him. Meanwhile at Jhansi, Baba arrived at Pande’s house and asked, “How is your wife?” Pande did not know Baba and asked him who he was. Baba replied, “Baba Neem Karoli. ” Pande said, “She is lying dead inside. ” Baba said, “Will you show her to me?” Pande took Baba inside. Baba looked at her dead body and said, “She is not dead yet. You have some grapes in your house? Fetch them, and a bowl and a spoon. ” Baba extracted some grape juice by pressing the grapes in his hand and poured that juice into her mouth. Her pulse began to beat and, in a few moments, she opened her eyes. Baba said, “Give her grape juice and milk to drink, she will be cured.” Then Baba went away. Pande’s wife began to recuperate and she regained her health without any treatment. It turned out that Baba visited Motiram’s house when Pande’s wife was six years old. Someone had died in the neighbour’s house, and as the child had seen this for the first time, it had shocked her tender heart. At that time Baba very lovingly said to the girl, “Ask whatever you want.” She said, “Baba, when I die, bring me back to life.”Baba was committed

MIRACLES BY SHIRDI SAI BABA SAI BABA & CHAND BHAI’S HORSE In Maharashtra, there is a district named Aurangabad, in which there is a village named Dhoopkhede. Chand bhai was the Patel of that village. Once he lost his horse. Chand bhai searched and searched, but to no avail. After travelling fourteen Koss, he came, on the way, to a mango tree under the foot of which sat a Fakir. He had a cap on His head, wore Kafni (long robe) and had a “Satka” (short stick) under his armpit. The Fakir asked him about the saddle. Chand Patil replied that it was of his horse which was lost. The queer fellow or Fakir asked him to make a search in the Nala close by. He went and the wonder of wonders! He found out the mare. He thought that this Fakir was not an ordinary man, but an Avalia (a great saint). He returned to the Fakir with the mare. He requested the Fakir to come to his home and accept his hospitality. Next day He went to the Patil’s house and stayed there for some time. After some time, there was a marriage ceremony in Chand Bhai’s house; the marriage procession went to Shirdi. The Fakir also accompanied the marriage-party. When the marriage – party came to Shirdi, it alighted at the foot of a Banyan tree in Bhagat Mhalsapati’s field near Khandoba’s temple. Bhagat Mhalsapati saw the young Fakir getting down and accosted Him “YA SAI” (Welcome Sai). Others also addressed Him as Sai and thence-forth he became known as Sai Baba.

STORY OF GRINDING WHEAT One time, there was an epidemic of Cholera in Shirdi. Helpless Shirdi people approached Baba for relief. On this Baba after washing his hand and face took some wheat and started grinding in a hand mill. Then he asked the village people to take the flour and throw it on the village borders. With grace of Baba, from that time onward the cholera epidemic subsided and the people of the village were happy. By grinding wheat here Baba meant that, it was not the wheat, that was ground but cholera itself was ground to pieces and pushed out of the village

TURNING WATER INTO OIL Every night, Sai Baba used to light earthen lamps in the Dwarkamai. For this, he asked the grocers to give him oil. In the beginning, people looked upon Baba as a mad fakir and so the grocers gave him oil just for the fun of it. But soon they got fed up with this daily practice and one day they all refused to give him oil. With the empty oil-tin dangling from his hand, Baba came back to Dwarkamai. He put a little water in the oil tin and drank it, as if to please the God within. Then he took more water, poured it in the lamps and kindled them one by one the ‘water-lamps’ burnt throughout the night. Those who had come to scoff remained to praise. This incident established the supernatural powers of Baba beyond a shred of doubt.

STOPPING THE RAIN There is the story of one Rao Bahadur Moreshwar Pradhan who had come to Shirdi to take Sai Baba’s darshan along with his wife. As the couple were about to leave, it began to rain heavily. Thunder and lightning rent the air. As the Pradhan couple looked round in dismay, Sai Baba prayed. “Oh God!” he intoned, “let the rains cease. My children are going home. Let them go peacefully!” The storm thereupon ceased, the downpour reduced to slight drizzle and the Pradhans were able to reach their destination safely. (Source: https://rgyan.com)

TALES & PARABLES OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?

Once upon a time, there were two friends. One day they were going

along a street when they saw some people listening to a reading of the

    Bhagavata Katha.

“Come, friend,” said the one to the other, “let us hear the sacred book.”

So saying he went in and sat down. The second man peeped in and went

    away.

He entered a house where a prostitute lives. But very soon he felt

disgusted with the place. “Shame on me!” he said to himself. “My friend

has been listening to the sacred word of Hari and see where I am!”

But the friend who had been listening to the Bhagavata also became

disgusted. “What a fool I am!” he said to himself. “I have been listening

to this fellow’s blah-blah, and my friend is having a great time.”

In the course of time, they both died. The messenger of death came for

the soul of one who had listened to the Bhagavata and dragged it off to

hell. The messenger of God came for the soul of the one who had been to

the house of prostitution and led it up to heaven. Verily, the Lord looks

into a man’s heart and does not judge him by what he does or where he

    lives.

    OCCULT POWERS

Once upon a time a sadhu acquired great occult powers. He was vain about

them. But he was a good man and had some austerities to his credit. One day

the Lord, disguised as a holy man, came to him and said, “Revered sir, I have

heard that you have great occult powers.” The sadhu received the Lord cordially

and offered him a seat. Just then an elephant passed by.

The Lord, in the disguise of the holy man, said to the sadhu, “Revered sir, can

you kill this elephant if you like?” The sadhu said, “Yes, it is possible.” So saying

he took a pinch of dust, muttered some mantras over it, and threw it at the

elephant. The beast struggled a while in pain and then dropped dead. The Lord

said: “What power you have! You have killed the elephant!” The sadhu laughed.

Again the Lord spoke: “Now, can you revive the elephant?” “That too is

possible,” replied the sadhu. He threw another pinch of charmed dust at the

beast. The elephant writhed about a little and came back to life.

Then the Lord said: “Wonderful is your power. But may I ask you one thing? You

have killed the elephant and you have revived it. But what has that done for

you? Do you feel uplifted by it? Has it enabled you to realize God?” Saying this,

    the Lord vanished.

Subtle are the ways of Dharma. One cannot realize God. If one has even the least

trace of desire. A thread cannot pass through the eye of a needle if it has the

    smallest fibre sticking out.

    INSPIRING STORIES

THREE BOONS (Source: Book “Vedanta: Seven Steps to Samadhi”)

Once it happened that a man was worshipping Shiva. He worshipped and

worshipped, prayed and prayed for years. Then Shiva appeared and he

said,”You can ask for three blessings, three gifts; three boons can be given to

    you.”

The man had been worshipping for so long that he really had forgotten why he

had started. His mind was so constantly changing. The worship had become an

obsession. He had forgotten for what, so he said,”Let me think.”

He thought of asking certain gift and then stopped himself. He was angry with

his wife, so he had said,”Kill her!” Immediately she was dead. Mind is divided:

you love the person and you hate the same person. It is always fifty-fifty. He

asked that the wife should be killed, and the wife was dead; immediately she

fell down. The moment she was dead he became aware that he loved her very

much, so he said,”Please, revive her again.” So the second gift was wasted.

Two gifts wasted: first she was killed, second she was revived – only one was

left. Then he said,”Now, give me time enough to think; otherwise I will again

make a mistake, and then there is no fourth.”

Shiva waited and waited. Years passed and he would come again and again and

he would ask;”Now you ask for the third.” The man was so puzzled he couldn’t

sleep. He became almost insane just thinking about the one wish, because only

one was left. He went visiting all the persons he knew who were wise, and they

suggested many things, but nothing seemed worthwhile. Then he asked Shiva

himself, “You tell me. I am going mad!”

And what Shiva told him is to be remembered. He said,” There can be only one

wish, one desire which is worthwhile. Ask for desirelessness, otherwise nothing

is worthwhile. Whatsoever you ask, the next moment you will want something

else, even just the opposite of the first.”

it, but on his way to the tower the prime minister had whispered something in his wife’s ear.

On the very first night she came and left an ordinary insect on the tower wall. She applied a

little honey to its antennae. The insect began to climb up the tower in search of the honey,

but she had also tied a thin silk thread to its tail.

Slowly the insect climbed the three hundred feet of the tower where the minister was

waiting for it. He grabbed at the silk thread to which the wife had tied a string. And to the

string she had tied a cord and attached to the cord was a strong rope. The minister pulled till

he had the rope in hand, and with its help he climbed down from the tower. The story states

that not only did the minister escape the prison, but he also discovered the means to escape

    from life’s ultimate prison.

If even the thinnest, weakest thread comes to hand, there is no difficulty in attaining

liberation. The weakest thread can pave the way to beatitude, but the thread must come to

hand. A slight ray, once recognized, can lead to the sun. All religions, all gurus, have reached

God by catching hold of one thin thread or other. These threads are many, and can be tied to

many kinds of insect. It isn’t necessary to smear the insect’s antennae with honey; you can

apply anything that tempts the insect to climb to the prisoner. The thread becomes the

    bridge.

STORY OF EVERY MAN (Source: “The Secret of Secrets, Volume 2” – Osho)

One day the Lord Vishnu was sitting in a deep cave within a far mountain

meditating with his disciple. Upon the completion of the meditation the

disciple was so moved that he prostrated himself at Vishnu’s feet. He begged

to be able to perform some service for his Lord in gratitude. Vishnu smiled and

shook his head,”It will be most difficult for you to repay me in actions for what

I have just given you freely.”

”Please Lord,” the disciple said,”allow me the grace of serving you”. ”Very

well,” Vishnu relented,”I would like a nice cool cup of water”. ”At once Lord,”

the disciple said, and he ran down the mountain singing in joy.

After a while, he came to a small house at the edge of a beautiful valley and

knocked at the door. ”May I please have a cool cup of water for my Master,”

he called. ”We are wandering sannyasins and have no home on this earth.”

A wondrous maiden answered his call, and looked at him with undisguised

adoration. ”Ah,” she whispered,”you must serve that holy saint upon the far

mountain. Please, Good sir, enter my house and bestow your blessing

    therein.”

”Forgive my rudeness,” he answered,”but I am in haste. I must return to my

Master with his water immediately.” ”Surely, just your blessing won’t upset

him. After all he is a great holy man, and as his disciple you are obligated to

help those of us who are less fortunate. Please,” she repeated,”just your

blessing for my humble house. It is such an honour to have you here and to be

enabled to serve the Lord through you.”

So the story goes, he relented, and entered the house and blessed all therein.

And then it was time for dinner. And he was persuaded to stay and further the

blessing by partaking of her food (thereby making it also holy), and since it was

so late – and so far back to the mountain, and he might slip in the dark and

spill the water – he was persuaded to sleep there that night and get an early

start in the morning. But in the morning, the cows were in pain because there

was no one to help her milk them. And if he could just help her once (after all,

cows are sacred to the Lord Krishna, and should not be in pain) it would be so

    wondrous.

And days became weeks, and still he remained. They were married and had

numerous children. He worked the land well and brought forth good harvests.

He purchased more land and put it under cultivation. Soon his neighbours

looked to him for advice and help, and he gave it freely. His family prospered.

Temples were built through his effort, schools and hospitals replaced the

jungle, and the valley became a jewel upon the earth. Harmony prevailed

where only wilderness had been, and many flocked to the valley as news of its

prosperity and peace spread throughout the land.

There was no poverty or disease there, and all men sang their praises to God as

they worked. He watched his children grow and have their own children, and it

was good. One day as an old man, as he stood upon a low hill facing the valley,

he thought of all that had transpired since he had arrived: farms and happy

prosperity as far as the eye could see. And he was pleased. Suddenly there was

  • 29 | P a g e h t t p s : / / s a i s a b u r i . o r g

a great tidal wave, and as he watched, it flooded the whole valley, and in an instant, all was gone.

Wife, children, farms, schools, neighbours – all gone. He stared, bewildered, at the holocaust that

spread before him. And then he saw riding upon the face of the waters his Master, Vishnu, who

looked at him and smiled sadly, and said,” I’m still waiting for my water!”

This is the story of man. This is what has happened to everybody. We have completely forgotten

why we are here, why we came in the first place, what to learn, what to earn, what to know, who

we are and from whence and to where, what is our source and the cause of our journey into life,

into body, in the world, and what we have attained up to now. And if a tidal wave comes – and it

is going to come, it always comes; its name is death – all will be gone: children, family, name,

    fame, money, power, prestige.

All will be gone in a single moment and you will be left alone, utterly alone. All that you had done

will be undone by the tidal wave. All that you had worked for will prove nothing but a dream, and

your hands and your heart will be empty. And you will have to face the Lord, you will have to face

existence. And the existence has been waiting for you; long, long it has been waiting for you to

bring something for which you had been sent in the first place. But you have fallen asleep, and

you are dreaming a thousand and one dreams. All that you have been doing up to now is nothing

but a dream, because death comes and all is washed away.

SWAMI (Posted by Wayne (Rono) in https://saisaburi.org on 26/6/2019)

There it is, that orange speck, In the distance, stretch your neck. Oh the people, so many, so vast, But yes, we are here at last. Oh I pray, will we ever meet? If only I can touch His Golden Feet. Swami, He knows everyone of us, No matter where we are, Whether we travel by bus, plane or motor car. Swami, I love You, I’ve been good and done my best, Served the people, is it all a test? I’ve never experienced love like this before, Until you drew me to You, As though You were knocking at my door. Oh Swami, I go to sleep at night, Yearning deeply for You, with all my might, Then wake up in the morning, face full of smiles and gleaming, Cause I know You came to me, while I was dreaming.
