ONE DIRECTION-UP ALL NIGHT ALBUM

Up All Night is predominantly a pop music album, which orientates

into pop rock, dance-pop, teen pop and power pop. The album's

lyrical content mainly explores themes about having fun, being

young, relationships, heartbreak and empowerment. One Direction

targets females primarily the younger generation aged 12-18. Also

known as the ‘tween’ market. The five band members have put

together an album that knows its target audience and certainly

delivers. Although the album is not musical genius, the album itself

stays true to its pop genre and provides a mixture of

ballads, catchy love songs, and anthems to play.

ALBUM MATERIAL

The album „Up All Night‟ was also promoted by the band members

touring in the United States. Documenting the whole concert with

intersperses of backstage footage, entitled Up All Night: The Live

Tour, was released on DVD in May 2012. The video concert DVD

was a global success, topping the charts in twenty-five countries

and setting an unprecedented U.S. chart record. The opening

sales also makes it the highest music DVD debut of 2012 and the

second highest debut in the past five years behind Adele's Live at

the Royal Albert Hall, which launched at number one, with 96,000

copies, in December 2011. One Direction previewed a few tracks

from the album during a UStream session. Barack Obama even

tried singing “What Makes You Beautiful” to the whole nation.

I think that the best way to promote an

album is through viral marketing. This is

because the internet has developed and

become a part of peoples everyday lives.

Advertising on the internet allows people to

communicate and review music which can

persuade them to buy the music or just

listen to it.
