What do we know about the Queen?

Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21st 1926 to her father King George VI and her mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.

She acceded to the throne in 1952, and was crowned in 1953. This makes her the second longest-reigning monarch, behind Queen Victoria.

What else do you know about the Queen?

Elizabeth married Prince Philip in 1947, and they have 4 children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Princes Andrew and Edward.

Buckingham Palace

The Queen lives and works in Buckingham Palace in London.

The palace has been the official residence of the British monarchy since Queen Victoria lived there in 1837.

It has almost 800 rooms, including state rooms, offices, and royal and guest bedrooms for the Queen and her family.

The Royal Family also has homes in Windsor Castle, Balmoral in Scotland, Sandringham House and Clarence House.
