Deliverables – Expected OutcomeDeliverables – Expected Outcome

State-of-the-art instrument and forward models for spaceborne

Doppler radars suitable to simulate:

a breath of spaceborne Doppler radar configurations including scanning

and advance signal processing schemes

complex atmospheric/surface scenes from tranquil stratiform clouds to

vigorous deep convection over water or variable land type surfaces

Retrieval models suitable for Doppler motion correction due to

antenna mispointing and “target” ID

Doppler performance study for planned (EarthCARE) and future

spaceborne Doppler radar missions

All models will be integrated in the EarthCARE Simulator and

distributed (via ESA) as a community tool for algorithm development

and future feasibility/engineering trade off studies
