READING LECTURA

Philippians 2:6-11

Second Reading for Palm Sunday

of the Lord’s Passion

Lectionary for Mass, no. 38ABC

Christ humbles himself. Because

of this, God greatly exalted

him. Cristo se humilló

a sí mismo; por eso Dios lo exaltó.

A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Philippians Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The word of the Lord.

PRAYER ORACIÓN

Christmas Mass

during the Day, Collect Prayer

O God, who wonderfully created the dignity of human nature and still more wonderfully restored it, grant, we pray, that we may share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 5:1-12a

Gospel for the Fourth Sunday

in Ordinary Time, Year A

Lectionary for Mass, no. 70A

Blessed are the poor in spirit.

Dichosos los pobres de espiritu.

✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heave.” The Gospel of the Lord.

Espíritu Santo estén siempre con ustedes.

A reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians

Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

The word of the Lord.

PRAYER ORACIÓN

Preface for the

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.

For with your Only Begotten Son and the Holy Spirit you are one God, one Lord: not in the unity of a single person, but in a Trinity of one substance.

For what you have revealed to us of your glory we believe equally of your Son and of the Holy Spirit, so that, in the confessing of the true and eternal Godhead, you might be adored in what is proper to each Person, their unity in substance, and their equality in majesty….

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. . .

Gospel for Evening Prayer,

Liturgy of the Hours Excerpt from the

Gospel for the Visitation of the

Blessed Virgin Mary, 31 May

✠ My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:

the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him

in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm

he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

Page 8: 1. Jesus both God and Human€¦ · pobres de espiritu. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down,

8

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,

and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel

for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he has made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and will be for ever. Amen.

READING LECTURA

Matthew 16: 13-17

Excerpt from the Gospel for Sts

Peter and Paul, Apostles

Lectionary for Mass, no. 591

✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said in reply,

“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

Second Reading for the Fifth

Sunday of Easter, Year A

A reading from the first Letter of Saint Peter Beloved: Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings

but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Lectionary for Mass, no. 52A

You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood.

Ustedes son estirpe elegida, sacerdocio

real.

For it says in Scripture: Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a cornerstone, chosen and precious, and whoever believes in it shall not be put to shame.

Therefore, its value is for you who have faith, but for those without faith: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone, a stone that will make people stumble, and a rock that will make them fall.

They stumble by disobeying the word, as is their destiny. You are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises” of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

The word of the Lord.

Lectionary for Mass, no. 39ABC

A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians

Brothers and sisters: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you,

that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup,

you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.

The word of the Lord.

PRAYER ORACIÓN

Preface I of the

Most Holy Eucharist

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.

For he is the true and eternal Priest, who instituted the pattern of an everlasting sacrifice and was the first to offer himself as the saving Victim, commanding us to make this offering as his memorial. As we eat his flesh that was sacrificed for us, we are made strong, and, as we drink his Blood that was poured out for us, we are washed clean.

And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts….

A Second

Readings from All Souls’ Day

What is seen is transitory; what is unseen is eternal.

Lo que se ve es transitorio y lo que no se ve es

eterno.

A reading from the second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians Brothers and sisters: We know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and place us with you in his presence. Everything indeed is for you, so that the grace bestowed in abundance on more and more people may cause the thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God. Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but what is unseen is eternal.

For we know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven. The word of the Lord.

PRAYER ORACIÓN

Almighty God, through the death of your Son on the cross you destroyed our death; through his rest in the tomb you hallowed the graves of all who believe in you; and through his rising again you restored us to eternal life. God of the living and the dead, accept our prayers for those who have died in Christ and are buried with him in the hope of rising again. Since they were true to your name on earth, let them praise you for ever in the joy of heaven. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Order of Christian Funerals, © 1989, 1985, ICEL
