CHAPTER NO 1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTIONToday computers have become part of every organization and institute. Now in every

field of life computers are being used. Everything that was done manually in the past

has become computerized for example keeping product record, customer record and

student record etc. Over the last few years there has been a remarkable increase in the

use of the World Wide Web (www) for a wide and variety of purposes.

There was also a fast grow in its applications, this led the Internet users to realize the

importance and the benefits gained from a globally interconnected hypermedia

system. The exponential growth of www applications with all their multimedia aspects

such as the combination of text, hypertext, images, computer animations, video,

sound, etc. have raised the necessity for formal or semiformal methodologies for

developing such applications.

As a website is a communication media in www, first impressions do count, so it

must be a compelling and effective online application. This goal could be

accomplished by combining a clear understanding of what contributes to an effective

online presence aligned with the very best in design methodology and technical

functionality.

1.2 OVERVIEW ON WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENTNowadays websites are the most convenient way to present and disseminate

information to the maximum number of people in the world. The web browsers are the

means to render the information on a webpage, the basic building blocks of a website

which has the basic structure (architecture) written in web Program. In today’s

Information age, almost all organizations have a website with their manifesto and

their product and service information. It is probably the most economic and the most

convenient way to disseminate information all over the world.

1.3 INTRODUCTION TO PROJECTDuring the final year of M.Sc (Computer Science) to each student a project assigns.

They are supposed to do a comprehensive project to computerize a given system of an

organization. The project must be prepared under the close supervision of project

supervisor.

1.5 ABOUT ORGANIZATIONWelcome to my website. I have the online Industry website. This website has all

information about the TIP Industry of Haripur. My website is based on online

information and also online purchasing. I have one of the well known website for of

TIP having many departments. TIP Industry is a symbol of successful

telecommunication in Haripur and all our Pakistan.

TIP INDUSTRY OF HARIPUR is a well known telecommunication industry in

Pakistan. Wherever you are in the world, can get online information and buying of

relevant products make quick and secure.

1.5.1 PROJECT SELECTIONProject selection is one of the most critical tasks. I have several projects in my minds

but as I have a lot of interest in web designing, so I decided to build a dynamic

website. I want to make a special website that is referring to the TIP Industry of

Haripur. This website can be used as a template for the information of products and

also for online purchasing.

1.5.2 PROJECT TASKTask of this website is to show every feature of TIP Industry so that there are no

doubts in customer’s mind who want to buy online products or search for the online

information. This website also provides jobs to the users who want to apply for the

jobs. The applicants can apply online for the job.

. This website will provide a good interface to the customers as well as applicants so

that the users visiting this website get good impression about the TIP Industry.

1.5.3 OBJECTIVESThe aim of this project is to provide information about of TIP and to make a dynamic

web site that offers customers to visit our website on web. This web site can be used

as a template for the buying and also for online application for jobs. The purpose of

this website is to provide information about products of telephone industry of Pakistan

(TIP) as well as provide to purchased product of TIP at their door step and also

announce the vacancies and can apply online for the job at this industry. In this

website people have opportunity to purchase products by cash on delivery.

NEED OF THE APPLICATION There was not an online websites offering online purchasing products, vacancies for

jobs, and information about the products.

PROBLEM The basic problems with the existing systems are the non-interactive

environment they provide to the customers.

A search engine that would display the results without allowing the

users to further filter the results based on various parameters

Use of traditional and non user friendly interfaces that are hard to use.

SOLUTION The motive of this Online Dynamic Web Application is to allow the user to

play with the search tool and create different combinatorial search criterion

to perform exhaustive search.

Making the application XML (is a group of interrelated web development

methods used on the client-side to create interactive web applications . With

Ajax, web applications can retrieve data from the server asynchronously in the

background without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing

page. Data is usually retrieved using the XML Http Request object . Despite the

name, the use of XML is not needed, and the requests need not be

asynchronous ) enabled gets rid of these unnecessary delays letting the user to

perform exhaustive search. The users of this application can easily feel the

difference between the Ajax empowered user interfaces vs. Traditional

user interfaces. Ajax uses a combination of HTML and CSS to mark up and

style information.

Provide Interactive interface through which a student can interact with

different areas of application easily.

A search engine that provides an easy and convenient way to search for

specific information to their needs. The search engine would list a set of

departments based on the search term and student can easily get information

from the list of department.

SCOPE The current system can be extended to allow the customers to found

information of products online and buy online to save a lot of time.

The customers allow visiting our web site from sitting their houses.

WEB DEVELOPMENT OR WEB DESIGN:

Web design is the design of web pages, websites and web applications. The term

also refers to web based graphical user interface design using images and one of

HTML standards.

HISTORY OF TOOL UESD

The first web designer was Tine Berner-lee who invented the WWW and put the

first website online in August 1991. Lee was first to combine Internet

communication with hypertext.

At first, web design utilized a simple markup language called HTML that includes

some formatting options and the ability to link pages together using hyper links.

As the web and web design progressed, the markup language used to make it,

known as hypertext markup language or HTML became more complex and

flexible. Things like tables, which could be used to display tabular information,

were commonly used. Data base integration techniques such as server side

scripting (CGI, ASP, ASP.Net, PHP) etc and design standards like CSS further

changed and enhanced the way the web is made.

E-COMMERCE AND E-BUSINESS:

There is considerable discussion currently about the opportunities the Internet

provides for electronic commerce and electronic business. As with many

emerging developments of this nature, there is some debate over the actual

definitions of these two terms. A cisco system, now one of the largest

organizations in the world, has defined five incremental stages of business on

Internet, which include definitions of these terms.

STAGE 1, EMAIL:

As well as communicating and exchanging files across an internal network,

businesses at this stage are beginning to communicate with suppliers and

customers by using the Internet as an external communication medium. This

delivers an immediate boost to the business’s efficiency and simplifies global

communication.

STAGE 2, WEBSITE:

Businesses at this stage have developed a website, which acts as a shop window to

the world for their business products. The website also allow customer to

communicate with business at any time, from anywhere which gives even the

smallest business a global presence.

STAGE 3, ECOMMERCE:

Definition: Customer can place and pay for orders via the business’s website.

Businesses at this stage are not only using their website as dynamic brochure but

they also allow customer to make procurements from the website, and may even

be providing service and support online as well.

STAGE 4, E-BUSINESS:

Definition: Complete integration of the Internet technology into the economic

infrastructure of the business.

Businesses at this stage have embraced Internet technology through many parts of

their business. Internal and external processes are managed through intranet and

extranets: sale, service and promotion are all based around the web. Among the

potential advantages, the business achieves faster communication, streamlined and

more efficient processes and improved productivity.

STAGE 5, ECOSYSTEM:

suppliers and the corporate infrastructure are integrated into a seamless system. It

is argued that this provides lower costs, higher productivity and significant

competitive advantages.

In the past few years, companies have been exited with the idea of online

DEPARTMENTS Providing modern ways of communication the Telephone industry is working

in different departments. The industry fulfills different jobs in different

departments related to the communication requirements. The working

ADMIN DEPARTMENT:The department is responsible for the whole industry working. It has to monitors all

the departments of the industry. It also has authority to check the residence colony of

the TIP as well as hospitals.Admin holds the check on all departments of the TIP

industry of Haripur.

FINANCE DEPARTMENT:The department is has the responsibility to monitor all financial matters of the

industry. It also deals with the customers and also with the companies which are the

suppliers of raw material to the industry.

R&D DEPARTMENT:The research and development department is working for the research work as well as for developing the products.
