• Internet : worldwide computer network that connects hundreds of thousands of smaller networks, such as educational, commercial, nonprofit, and military organizations

World Wide Web (WWW)

• The internet & World Wide Web are not the same thing. The internet functions as a transport mechanism, and the world wide web is an application that uses those transport functions

• WWW is a system with universally accepted standarts for storing retrieving, formatting, and displaying information via a client/server architecture; uses the transport functions of the internet
