Teaser trailerMy teaser trailer goes with the conventions of a horror teaser trailer in the way I have used the hand held camera approach which is fairly new to the horror genre; similar to Paranormal activity and The blair with project. Secondly, the protagonist in my teaser trailer; Disturbed is a blonde male which goes with the conventions of horror, as blonde signifies purity and innocence, this can be seen in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and more recently Scream, making the audience form more sympathy for the character.

Teaser TrailerMy teaser trailer challenges the conventions of the horror genre in the way the victim is a male, in Paranormal activity the victim is a female as is with Psycho. I chose a male to lure the audience in to a false sense of security to build up suspense and create a greater shock. I used a female spirit to go against the conventions of the horror genre for similar reasons as I did for having a male victim. I was just bored with the stereotypical horror film with a female running helplessly from a male figure like in scream 1.

Teaser Trailer I have developed the horror genre in the way I have juxtaposed the genders with

the protagonist and the spirit, as this is not a conventional idea for horror films. As the spirit is wearing normal clothes and them being light sends mixed messages as they are unsure whether she is a spirit or an actual person I have left his a mystery as it makes the audience want to watch the film.

FILM MAGAZINE I tried to replicate my film magazine to a professional standard like with EMPIRE

magazine. The conventions I have followed in making a film magazine, i have outlined on my blog, which are;- I obviously used a masthead as its what advertises the magazines and makes it sell.-I have also used a positioning statement, however in a different font.-I have used a photo of a star of a film which is being featured within the magazine. However it is not an action shot from the film, it is one from the red carpet at an awards ceremony. -I have used similar stories from the front covers of other magazines such as interviews with famous directors and surveys.- The colour scheme I used went with the conventions of a film magazine, as i went with 3 different colours so it does not over power the front cover.

FILM MAGAZINE I have challenged the conventions of the film magazines by

using a red carpet shot, as most seem to use action shots like the previous empire magazine shown. Secondly I have used quite dark colours to fit with the mise en scene of a horror film (Black, red and white). Film magazines such as empire dont always use dark colours, they wish to stand out so use brighter colours.

FILM POSTER

Page 9: 1) in what ways do your media

FILM POSTERSI wanted to use paranormal activity as a template for my film

poster. I followed the conventions of a film poster in the way the protagonist is on the cover and is looking vulnerable in the poster looking over his shoulder to the spirit. I have also followed the convention of putting a date and tag line on the poster of “Whats in your house?”

I used a similar colour scheme to paranormal activity, also used a colour filter to add effect to the film poster.

Film poster

• I wanted to replicate a similar end product as paranormal activity. However I used a different picture, I used a medium shot of the protagonist from my teaser trailer opposed to paranormal activity using a long shot of the bedroom where most of the haunting took place.

Film poster

By using a close up, i challenged the conventions of a horror film poster, as most are obscure pictures, creating mystery, however mine is clear. And the picture is completely different to paranormal activities.
