Seek Him Still a Christmas Program by Michael D. Young
Narrator 1: In Luke 2, we read of the multitude of the heavenly host who cried “Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill toward man.” These same words are echoed in the well-loved hymn “Angels We Have Heard on High” where the angels' praise is translated into Latin: “Gloria in excelsis Deo”.
Narrator 2: These angelic choirs might have even been the same morning stars that shouted for joy when beholding the creation of the earth. The scriptures tell us that Jesus Christ formed the earth under the direction of His Heavenly Father. On the first Christmas night, the angels celebrated again Christ's return to the earth, to save those very souls for whom he had created it.
Narrator 3: Christ did not come to die for the people of some strange, unfamiliar place. This earth was the workmanship of His own hands, and those who lived on it, His spirit brothers and sisters. It is no wonder that the angels sang for joy, knowing that they too had a part in Christ's salvation.

Narrator 1: In the beginning, our Heavenly Father chose His only begotten Son to fulfill the greatest role of all of His children. He knew that it would not be an easy path for His Son to walk, but knew not only it would be for the benefit of all His children.
Narrator 2: Our Heavenly Father wants to bring about the “immortality and eternal life” of man. He wants to do this because He loves each one of us and wants us to progress and grow. In His great wisdom, He established the Plan of Salvation for this purpose.
Narrator 3: It is an incredible thing that someone so important to Heavenly Father's plan would come to earth in such a humble way. Though He had created the very earth, he was born in a stable, in a small town to a poor parents. His miracles, His teachings, His Atonement, His death and resurrection were still to come, and only poor shepherds were witness to the blessed event.
Narrator 1: John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Narrator 1: On one green hill, shepherds watched their flocks and were told of the coming of their Savior. On another green hill, over thirty years later, that same Savior would give His life for all of us.
Narrator 3: The last verse of There Is a Green Hill Far Away, then tell us what we should do to thank our Savior. “Dearly, dearly have He loved, and we must love Him too. And trust in His redeeming blood, and try His works to do.”
Narrator 2: It is the Savior's Atonement that allowed the fulfillment of the angel's song "Goodwill henceforth from heaven to men begin in never cease." He allowed us all the chance to be reconciled to God though we distanceourselves from Him by our sins.

Narrator 1: How wonderful it must have been to hear the words of the angelic messenger “He is not here, but is risen.” He had completed the work His Father had sent Him there to do. But we would not have the triumph of Easter morning, if it were not for the triumph of Christmas morning, when angels also announced Christ's presence.
Narrator 2: Indeed, looking at the full mortal life of the Savior of the World gives an appreciation for just how miraculous and wonderful it was. What a contrast there is with the baby in the manger to the man who man who rode triumphantly into Jerusalem amid cries of “Hosanna!”
Narrator 3:As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us not lose sight of the reason for his birth and express our gratitude to God. Let us resolve now that our words and deeds in the coming year will reflect our gratitude.

8 First Noel/Easter Morn
Narrator 1: The scriptures tell us very little about what the shepherds said when reached the manger and saw the baby Jesus. Perhaps they were so touched that they could not say anything at all. Perhaps, like the angels who had announced the Savior's birth, they could only express their joy through song.
Narrator 2: Someday, each of us will stand before Jesus and to bask in his presence. Until that time, we can look forward with reverent wonder, expressing through song, the kind of feelings that regular words simply cannot convey.
Narrator 3: "Fair is the sunshine, fairer the moonlight, and all the stars in heaven above. Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer, and brings to all the world His love."
Narrator 4: Fair are the meadows, fairer the woodlands robed in the flowers of blooming spring. Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer. He makes the sorrowing spirit sing.

Narrator 1: The shepherds and the wise men are not the only ones who have been called on to seek the Savior. That call has been extended to all of us, and then not only to seek Him during one season of the year.
Narrator 2: Seeking His grace, His forgiveness, His example should be something that is a part of our daily lives. Our lives will be enriched to the extent that we make seeking Him a priority in our lives.
Narrator 3: Unlike the shepherds and the wise men, ours will likely not be a physical journey, but a spiritual one taken with steps of prayer, fasting, repentance, and service. There are many ways to seek Him, and if we let Him, He will show us the way, just as the Star of Bethlehem led the wise men and shepherds on the first Christmas.
Narrator 2: “Although we cannot see Him, His love and grace we feel. Like wise men and like shepherds, we rise and seek Him still.”
