• Circuit Breaker Maintenance:– Speed test and External Inspection every 5 years– Oil dielectric test every year– Power factor bushings every 10 years– Test SF6 moisture for Gas Circuit Breakers every 5

years

• Substation Inspections– Visual inspection every month (Infrared, coronascope,

SF6 Gas detection camera, ultrasonic detector)

• Relay Maintenance– DC Operational Test & Panel Inspection every 4 years– Relay Calibration every 4 years

Reduce TSAIFI and TSAIDISubstation Outage Reduction Programs

•Circuit Switch Replacement

–replace damaged components

•Arrester Replacement–replace silicon carbide arresters with MOVs

•Breaker Replacement–replace aged breakers that are obsolete

•Breaker Additions –install breakers in strategic substations to isolate the majority of customers from outages and reduce the length of the outage

•Automatic Sectionalizing–Add motor operated switches allowing remote sectionalizingreducing outage times

Page 8: 1 Entergy Transmission Asset Preservation Department 2004 Objectives Entergy Transmission Planning Summit New Orleans, LA July 10, 2003.

8

•RTU Retrofits–Install new RTUs in stations without one, reducing outage duration–Replace obsolete equipment on a priority basis, reducing outages and outage duration

•Pin and Cap Replacement–replace pin & cap insulators with new station post insulators

•Circuit Switcher Replacement–replace damaged components and aged equipment

•Transformer Life Extension–Re-blocking and Re-gasketting(Depends on age, manufacturer, size, paper and clamping type of the unit)
