BackgroundKspace takes visitors to Lake Mungo, 45,000 years ago – a time when people lived alongside megafauna.
A number of large, now-extinct animals once roamed Lake Mungo, and because Australia has long been separated from the other continents, these animals were unique to this landmass.
Instructions for teachersThis exercise sheet encourages children to think about the concept of extinction, and how different animals can be grouped together based on where they evolved and what they eat.
Students can work together or by themselves to cut and paste the words from the answer sheets, or they can write their answers to the questions in the spaces provided.
