Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I really liked the colours I used in my image because it makes it seem more realistic but it also looks like a cartoon which is why I like it so much. The texture on the pig is another thing I like about my image as it makes it seem more realistic as well as bringing it out of the page.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would have liked to spend more time on the texture of the wood to make it seem more real. I would have also liked to add more detail into the background.

Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I really like the detail on the face and how I added different shades to make her face more 3D. She looks very cartoony, I like this as she isn’t realistic and would fit into a children’s book better.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would have liked to add more detail to her hair as I think it would have looked better with different shades in it such as highlighting and adding the colours the original image had.

Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I spent more time on the smaller details on this image which is why I like it so much.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would have liked to add more detail to her hair and the face to make it look as close to the original image as possible.

Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I loved making this image as I think the black and white filter makes the image more interesting as well as allowing different parts of his face to stand out and show more detail. I really liked the detail in the eyes and the way the shadows and light make his face more realistic.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would spend more time on his hair and add as much of the little details I could to make it even more realistic.

Princess

Page 36: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Princess• I focused on the different era’s I may use as inspiration for

the dress the princess will be wearing. The era’s I looked at was the 1400s, 1600s and the 1700s.

• I also wanted to look at the stereotypical princess, blonde, thin and pale as it will be more traditional.

• I wanted to get images of the ‘princess’ in different positions to see what type of movement she would have as well as how she would look.

• With this storyboard I wanted to draw the image in my head to life so I researched the many era’s until I found a mixture of styles I liked and think suited the character in my story.

Page 37: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Prince

Page 38: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Prince

• I looked more closely at what prince’s looked like and wore in the same era’s as the princesses.

• I want the prince to have the same style as Prince Charming in Cinderella as that’s the same era I’m leaning to.

• I wanted the prince to look stereotypical but also realistic which is why I looked at paintings of princes from different eras.

Page 39: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Queen

Page 40: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Queen• I wasn’t sure which direction I wanted the Queen to go in,

as in the story she is ‘evil’ but she also needs to seem nice enough to fool the king into marrying her.

• With the similar eras of the princess, I looked at real queens from those times as well as the ‘Evil Queen’ in the TV show Once Upon A Time as inspiration for my character.

• I wanted the Queen to be pretty with beautiful dresses but perhaps an evil way to her.

• I used this mood board to add to my character that I have imagined, such as either brown or black hair as well as the colours she wears etc.

Page 41: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Step-sister

Page 42: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

Step-sister

• With the stereotypical ‘step-sister’ being known as ugly, I wanted to stick to that tradition as well as stick to the way she is described in the story I am using.

• Through the same eras, I looked at real paintings of princesses in that time who weren’t as beautiful as what I imagine the princess to look at.

• I also used some characters from Once Upon A Time again to look at a real woman dressed like a princess in that era.

Story OverviewA King loses his wife but still has his daughter, he then remarries a woman who also has a daughter. The kind-hearted princess, Florine, is to marry a charming Prince but the new Queen wants her selfish daughter, Truitonne, to marry the prince instead. She demands Florine to be locked up in a tower so the prince can not marry her, but when he refuses to marry the Queens daughter instead, the Queen asks a fairy to turn the charming Prince into a blue bird. After this, the blue bird visits his princess in her tower every night and sings to her, but when the Queen finds out, she orders the tree the bird uses to perch on to be burnt down. When a good fairy hears of this evil, she turns the blue bird back to its true Prince form and frees Florine from her tower. They soon become the beautiful Queen and Charming King and lock the horrible Queen and her spoiled daughter into the tower. The kingdom, King and Queen live happily ever after.

Deadline

15th January

Audience

I will be aiming my story book at children aged between 5-8 years of age. I will be targeting a female audience as I think my type of story with those types of characters will be best suited in a book for young girls. This is because it is a princess fairy tale. I am not aiming at any particular demographic as I think my book could appeal to anyone, this includes class and race.

Production Methods

I will be using Photoshop to create my children’s book pages as I will be able to show my graphic skills and also be able to make the pages a good quality which will make it a better standard. It also means that I can change details easier or add more if I need to change anything last minuet. I can also change the story as well as the font size and text.

What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?

Your proposal is very well laid out. The story overview is very detailed and shows you have a clear understanding of what you want your story to be about and the audience of who will read it.

None.

What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been further developed?

Overall your idea generation is very strong. You have three very well laid out mind maps that are full of information. I also feel that your mood boards are very well layered out showing a wide variety of characters for your story.

None.

Page 46: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?

Your proposal is very detailed and you clearly have a full plan of what you want to achieve. I really liked the individual analysis of each character so you have a very clear view of what you want to produce for your final product.

JPEG advantages and disadvantages need to completed.

What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been further developed?

Your idea generation is brilliant, very detailed and shows you have clearly thought through what you want your story, characters and final product to look like.

Nothing to improve!

Page 47: 1. Development Pro Forma Finished

What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?

There are many strengths in the proposal. You have a clear idea and understanding of what you want to do with your story, plot-wise and how each image will look which shows great development.

From what I’ve seen none, everything was very detailed and clear.

What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been further developed?

All of the detail. You gathered multiple images for developing the look of your characters. As well as with your mind maps, you have so many points that you want to keep for your plot, setting and characters. For instance saying, ‘Bright coloured memorable animals’ and having quick drawings for your backgrounds.

Nothing really, the amount of detail for each slide is amazing and really well done.

Feedback SummarySum up your feedback.I got really good feedback from people telling me how I did a lot of detailed research for my characters, such as the dress style era and the way I wanted them to look.

Which parts of your feedback do you agree with and why?I agree that my research is really detailed and I am proud of the way I set my mood boards out to make my characters come to life.

Which parts of your feedback do you disagree with and why?
