• New zEDC Hardware Data Compression– z12 (and up) hardware compression saves disk and tape backup storage space– Significantly reduces CPU and elapsed time for compression– Hardware and software decompression available for disaster recovery

• z/OS 2.1 Style Parallel Batch Recall– recalls ARCHIVEd data sets for entire job in one pass, instead of just for one

– Preserve Mirror (Remote Pair), employs Inband FlashCopy commands to eliminate data transfer, prevent the Metro Mirror from going into duplex pending and keep HyperSwap protection active by performing the FlashCopy operations at the remote site
