Engineering Design Process-Prototype Testing

The 4th step in the eng. design process is testing your prototype Often, the prototype does not work very well at first Testing a prototype can be dangerous (see picture below) By testing the prototype, the designers find problems to fix They fix the problems and then test it again. They repeat this

over & over. (This is step 5 of the eng design process.)

1) Working with a partner or working alone, design, build, and test a toy boat using recyclable materials. 2) You may also use materials such as glue and duct tape3) The boat must be able to float for at least 60 seconds.4) The boat must have a flat top at least 18 cm long (about seven inches) and 10 cm wide (about four inches). 5) The hull of the boat can not exceed 36 cm in length (about fourteen inches) and 30 cm in width (about twelve inches) 6) The boat should be no more than 22 cm in height (about nine inches)7) The boat must have a name on it.

NOTE: We will test them in water this Friday!
