A native of Greenville. S. C., Fouche (pronounced Fou-shay) received a B. A. de- gree in history in 1974 from Furman University. He re- ceived a master of divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest in 1981. While at Furman, he said in au interview, he was presi- dent of the Baptist Student Union and became good friends with the university cba lains.
