PREFACIO.

La gramática es la llave de todos los idiomas, y las re­glas que ésta prescribe sirven para explicar los conceptos con la claridad, propiedad, fluidez y hermosura que exi­-gen, tanto para la conversa­cion familiar, como para el despacho de todos los nego~ cios.

Si estos conocimientos fue.. ran comunes á todas las cla­ses de la sociedad, inútil fue­ra mi trabajo; pero como des­graciadamente no es así, y los adelantos en esta materia son los que sé descuidan con mas frecuencia en la juven­tud, de aquí viene que la ig­norancia de los idiomas es casi general. Por tanto, la ne­cesidad en que hoy se hallan los habitantes de México, de tratar, ora con 8ft bditos ingle­ses, ora con ciudadanos de Norte--América, me ha de­terminado á hacer una reco­pilacion de losmejores y mas frecuentes diálogos en ingles, de donde resulta un vocabu­lario cón que puedan enten­der y ser entendidos.

Me congl'atulo en no ha­ber omitido ilingnn medio por _dificil que me haya sido, pues no ha sido Qtro mi ob­jeto que el bien de mis -con­ciudadanos.
