Misconception #1: Raising children is women's work

Fact: Without fathers, most children lack the support, guidance, and discipline required to deal with life outside and within the family

Page 14: 1 Being a Father, 4 Times a Day. 2 Malachi 4:5-6 Deuteronomy 6:4-7 Psalms 68:5.

14

Misconception #2: Girls do not need their father

Research shows: Girls with active and hardworking dads are more ambitious, more successful in school, attend college more often, and are more likely to attain careers of their own.

Page 15: 1 Being a Father, 4 Times a Day. 2 Malachi 4:5-6 Deuteronomy 6:4-7 Psalms 68:5.

15

Misconception #3: Small children do not need their father’s influence and that the dad can just step in when the kids are older

Fact: If a man waits until his son or daughter is older, the child probably will resent Dad's lack of previous involvement, will have become over-dependent on Mom, and will show little interest in Dad's favored activities, opinions, or suggestions.

An avalanche of evidence from educators, law enforcement officials, mental health facilities, and teen pregnancy programs show the negative consequences of raising kids without fathers.

So powerful is the relationship between fatherlessness and juvenile crime that this factor alone is more predictive than poverty level, race, and education level.”

we would also follow certain spiritual healing steps, such as repentance, seeking and releasing forgiveness, prayer and fasting, doing acts of love and kindness towards your parent or child, and so on.

• If the parent-child relationship is currently still good, then we have to do what we can to maintain and even build up this relationship.

Let us not miss the daily opportunities to mentor our children.

May we stir ourselves to this God-given task.

And I believe it can be done, because God’s grace is sufficient for us all.
