From BC Provincial Madam President, Marilyn Lewis: Hello Brothers and Sisters; Just home from the Executive Meeting and feel that we had a great meeting and we

accomplished a few things. It was great to see everyone and for the ones that couldn't make it you were missed.

At this time I am pleased to make the following announcement. As I previously announced I had appointed

Sister Pat Irvine from Ladysmith as Pro-tem Jr. Past Madam President and I have appointed Sister Linda

Vipond from Maple Ridge and Sister Cindy Smith from Penticton as Pro-tem Trustees. Each of these sisters

has lots to offer the Provincial Auxiliary; Thank you Sisters for accepting these appointments.

With fall upon us we should all be getting back to our somewhat normal routines. I spent the early part of

September doing visitations in Cranbrook, Nelson, Trail, Vernon and Penticton and had a great time travelling

with my husband visiting old friends and making new friends. Once home started visitations on the Island and

then will be doing the Mainland. I am looking forward to the Pacific Northwest Regional Conference being

held in Cranbrook.

I see some of our Auxiliaries are working very hard to get new members. We need to build our Auxiliary

numbers and we need the newer younger members to help us do that and I can see that it has started to happen.

Congratulations to all the Auxiliaries who have brought in new members so far this year.

Thank you to all the hard work that is being done towards all our Charities. From what I have been hearing we

have had another successful year with the Food Drive. I know Campbell River has worked very hard toward

this.

To all of the Brothers and Sisters that are dealing with health issues I send my prayers for a speedy recovery.

For my brothers and sisters that have family or friends dealing with health issues I also wish them a speedy

recovery.

Now on a very sad note I announce that Chemainus-Crofton Aerie and Auxiliary will be going down. Members

will be transferring to Ladysmith and Duncan. Hope that they will enjoy their new Aerie and Auxiliary as much

as they have their old one. Chemainus Crofton was more than just and Aerie and an Auxiliary. The were family

and I wish each one of you all the best as you transfer to your new home.

Look forward to seeing everyone again sometime soon.

Remember Change can work to your advantage, let it happen

Fraternally, Marilyn Lewis, BC Provincial Madam President, Campbell River #3097

From PGO, Barbara Johnston:

Hello Sisters and Brothers, September coming to a close we can look forward to busy months ahead with many

of us planning Dinners, Bazaars, Bingo, Dances etc. to raise money for the many Charities we support.

Campbell River had a very successful September raising money and food donations for the Eagles Food Bank

Drive. Sister Marlene Jordan with the help of Auxiliary Sisters made over 100 pies for the Bake Sale with

proceeds to the Food Bank. Well done.

The Provincial Meeting is this coming week-end so look forward to seeing some of you in Abbotsford.

Congratulations to PPMP Lisa Kennelly and PPWP David Clowers as Pacific Northwest Regional Presidents.

To Grand Worthy President Elect Dave Smith, looking forward to next year when you become Grand Worthy

President. All of British Columbia is so very proud of your many accomplishments.

To the many Sisters and Brothers who have lost loved one, deepest sympathy and those who have been ill, I

wish you a speedy recovery.

Happy, Healthy Trails to you all and remember; “Open Your Arms To Change. But Don’t Give Up Your

PROVINCIAL MADAM PRESIDENT MARILYN’S

QUOTE OF THE DAY

******************************************************************************************

From BC Jr. Past Provincial Worthy President Ray Hawksworth:

Greetings My Brothers and Sisters; Happy Autumn and not Winter Yet! I have just returned home from the

Autumn Executive Meetings of the Provincial Aerie and Auxiliary. Thank You Abbotsford Aerie and Auxiliary

for being great hosts. And the food was fabulous!!

My task this fall/winter is to coordinate the Aerie Cursory Surveys we will conduct. We will visit each Aerie

over the fall/winter to interview sitting Officers regarding their duties and processes, ask a few questions, and to

listen to any concerns they may have.

Our Provincial Aerie Officers and/or Past Presidents, on behalf of the Grand Aerie, conduct this review every

few years. We treat this as a learning experience and an opportunity to transfer knowledge between Aeries. It

is healthy to look inward and see how we can improve our Organization. The better we operate our Aeries

improves our readiness to serve our Communities. As we travel we hope to speak to many members. Feel free

to ask questions of us along the way.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Pacific Northwest Conference in Cranbrook this month. I know it

will be informative - and a lot of fun!

Now, let's get on with our projects – and help Brother Joseph make Gary’s year a big success.

Fraternally, Ray Hawksworth, BC Provincial Jr. Past Worthy President

From BC Provincial Madam Secretary, Joan Klit:

Hello Sisters and Brothers;

IMPORTANT NOTICES: Secretaries, Please Bring The Following To Your Auxiliary Floor:

1. Grand Madam President's gift. Please send a cheque to the Provincial Secretary for $10.00. These monies

will go to the Auxiliary who hosts a visit from Grand Madam President so they may purchase a gift for her.

Provincial Auxiliary.

3. If you send a donation cheque directly to any of the Provincial Auxiliary Charities, please send a photocopy

of the cheque to me, you can send it via e-mail. By doing this I will be able to track our total donations

accurately as well as add the cheque amounts for Trophy totals.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be getting a Per Capita Statement from the Grand Aerie this November; I will

be sending each Auxiliary what is required for the Per Capita Tax, as our Provincial By-Laws were not in effect

for the one payment yearly until they came back from Grand.

Volunteers. Please treat each other with respect.

and think of the sacrifices so many men and

women made so that we can live in this wonderful country with the freedoms that we sometimes take for

granted.

The Abbotsford Auxiliary is selling Raffle Tickets on one the trains that were carried during the Installation

From BC Provincial Madam Inside Guard, Bobbi Williamson:

To my Brothers and Sisters; Hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Now that fall has come with a vengeance

and winter is right around the corner hopefully the Auxiliaries are working hard toward a goal of getting new

members and that each Auxiliary makes their 2% new and re-enrolled member gains.

Let’s remember Provincial Madam President Marilyn Lewis motto of change. We need to grow and to do so

we need understand why each woman joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Although the Ritual is the soul of

our Auxiliaries, many women joined the Eagles because of the other aspects we can offer such as Socialization,

Friendships and supporting our Communities. We need to help them help them attain their goals as well as our

own.

My prayers go out to Provincial Madam Conductor Barb Calve. I wish you a speedy recover during your long

and difficult journey back to good health and look forward to your smiling face.

To Abbotsford Eagles, the meals for the fall Provincial meeting were great. The Hospitality impeccable; it is

always a pleasure to visit Abbotsford.

I am looking forward to rekindling old friendships and making new ones at the Pacific Northwest Conference

later this month in Cranbrook.

Finally, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and friends.

year. If you are making the cheques payable to the BC Provincial Auxiliary please send them to the Provincial

Hello Sisters and Brothers; Pacific Northwest Regional President Lisa asked me to take on this job. It has been

a steep learning curve for me.

I am asking all Auxiliaries to report to our Provincial Chairpersons what they are doing to raise funds, and the

amounts raised and then that the Provincial Chairman are to report these things to me as I have to make

quarterly reports to National Chairman and then on to the Grand Aerie.

These are important Charities for many people and the money we raise is vital to our “People Helping People”

Goal. Please help me to keep a tally of what we do. My email address is [email protected]

From Provincial Madam Trustee, Louise Alexander:

Hello Brothers and Sisters, Well Fall is definitely here the leaves are displaying beautiful colours as well as

beginning to fall to the ground. The days are becoming cooler and here in the Lower Mainland we are having

numerous rain showers. It was surprising to hear that many of the mountain passes had snow over last

weekend. Hopefully that doesn’t mean that we are in for a long, cold winter!

It was so nice to see so many familiar faces at the Provincial Executive meeting held here in Abbotsford last

weekend. It was a very well run meeting. Thank you Marilyn for a job well done! I was pleased to hear that

everyone made in home safe and sound as many of you had to drive through snowy conditions.

For those unable to attend the meeting because of health concerns please know that you are in our thoughts and

prayers.

I am looking forward to attending the PNWRC in Cranbrook in a couple of weeks and hope to see many of you

there.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving as living in Canada we have so many blessings to be thankful

for! Abbotsford is looking forward to our Provincial President Marilyn’s visit on Sunday October 13th

. We are

planning a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and invite all to come and join us as we welcome Marilyn to our

Eagles club.

From BC Provincial Auxiliary Membership Committee, Arlene Neale and Sheila Williams: Hello Sisters and Brothers; WE CAN ONLY GROW WITH CHANGE

Let us know what your Auxiliary is planning to reach out to new members but ALSO what you are doing to

keep current members interested.

What Ladysmith #2101 is planning on doing is putting together a package to give to Welcome Wagon so that

new residents have an idea what is available to them. To keep members coming back a 30, 60, 90 day plan will

be followed with giving new members a free dinner ticket. Members who are proposers are urged to

accompany them. A Meet and Greet; informal fun night with wine and beer tasting and of course appies. This

allows new members as well as the current members the opportunity to ask questions, have protocols explained

to them and letting them know various activities they could volunteer for.

Remember: Get new members

But keep the old

One is gold

From Pacific Northwest Regional Bridge The Cure Chairman, Rob Trask Sr. and Brenda Craig:

Hello Brothers and Sisters: I am Pacific Northwest Regional Aerie Chairman Robert Trask Sr. and Pacific

Northwest Regional Auxiliary Chairman is Brenda Craig we would like to introduce ourselves and our Charity

the Bridge to the Cure.

Bridge to the Cure is an opportunity to ensure that the drug discoveries being made in the FOE DRC are

brought closer to market. The goal of finding a cure for Diabetes relies on studies being funded on the

discoveries. That is the Bridge to the Cure.

We believe that our ultimate goal of finding a cure is possible through the DRC and that the Bridge to the Cure

will allow us to accelerate the testing process and provide an opportunity to potentially receive a return on our

funding. This would allow for further research studies and benefit the FOE Charity Foundation.

If you have ideas for raising money for the Bridge to the Cure we would love to hear from you. If you need

ideas we would love to help.

NEWS FROM THE AUXILIARIES AND AERIES:

CAMPBELL RIVER #3097:

Hello Sisters and Brothers; After a relatively quiet summer things are starting to get busy around the club again.

Everyone has been busy planning for activities for the fall and events to raise money for our Charities. We have

had Bake Sales, Raffles, a Fashion Show and a Bingo with all profits going to Charity.

We are still doing weekly Friday Night Dinners, along with wings every Saturday Night and once a Month

we host a free Membership Breakfast and for Non Members a cost of $8.00. Good way to boast your

Membership numbers.

We are again this year already booked solid for our Christmas Season so we need to enjoy the next month

because after that there is no stopping.

I still have a number of year pins, new member’s pins, perfect attendance pins and a few special pins if anyone

is looking.

Fraternally, Marilyn Lewis, Secretary #3097

******************************************************************************************

LADYSMITH #2101: Hello my Brothers and Sisters! Where did the Summer go? Already into the third week of Fall. The slight rest

we had through the summer has been replaced by Caterings, Friday Night Dinners and Meat Pies. We are very

fortunate to have many volunteers to come and give us a hand at these events.

September was a wonderful month on the 16th

we cooked over 1000 Meat Pies and it did not take long to be

gobbled up. On the 20th

nineteen campers set out for our first Ladysmith Eagles Camping. Three days of fun,

food and games, on tap again for next year. On the 30th

we hosted the Red Serge Dinner for the Tour de Rock

Cops for Cancer, always a favourite. We initiated four in September and have one pending for October. We

also welcome with open arms our Brothers and Sisters who have transferred in from Chemainus/Crofton. Sad

to see #4400 dissolve.

A visitation on October 6th

of our Aerie and Auxiliary Provincial Presidents is planned with a luncheon. We are

so looking forward to their visit. Pictures to be in our next Echo report. October 19th

is our annual “Fill the

Pantry” dance. “Switch” will be playing and the cost is $15 each plus a non-perishable food item. All proceeds

to Ladysmith Food Bank. Caterings fill out the rest of the month.

LADYSMITH #2101: November 16

th the Auxiliary is planning a Christmas Craft Market. We are busy making items for our Eagles

table. Space is filling up fast. One of our busiest days is Light - Up and it falls on Thursday, November 28th

. A

group always goes in the parade while another group prepare and serve spaghetti dinner for over 500; believe

me they are dragging themselves around by 7 p.m.

Looking ahead to December, the 21st is our joint Christmas Dinner/Dance always a fun time. We hope everyone

has a safe and wonderful Christmas season with family and friends.
