Joint programme management

• Joint Progamme funded partly by agencies existing resources

• Funding gaps will be met by mobilizing resources through One UN Fund

• Managing Agent (UNFPA) responsible for programme results and funds going to govt

• Recognizes contributions to basket. Gradual shift to using government systems

Recognize that reduction of MNM hampered by factors within and without health sector

• Evidenced-based advocacy and policy dialogue to influence budget allocation and implementation essential MNCH interventions

• System Strengthening and Institutional Capacity Building to support implementation and monitoring of Roadmap

• Raising awareness and demand creation for quality MNCH services through empowering individuals and communities to make informed decisions.

What are the challenges?

• Beginning of extensive transition process • Needs change in mindsets and behaviour at

management and technical level• Some agencies have core funds to contribute,

some do not• Some agencies regulations do not allow

pooling • Managing a One UN Fund to achieve

common results• Must not become parallel initiative
